Not true. The Texans 53 man active roster included TJ Yates. After Leinart and Schaub went on IR, it included Delhomme and Garcia as well. We carried 3 QBs the entire year.
ts more because of injuries, i could be wrong couple of years ago and before that, i think kubes only liked carrying 2 qbs. I remember reading somewhere that Owen Daniels was our 3rd string QB. Anwyays thats not saying keenum wont get called up, if an injury happens he could.
Dave Meggett is currently serving 30 years in a South Carolina prison. Spoiler http://www.usatoday.com/sports/foot...omNfl-TopStories+(Sports+-+NFL+-+Top+Stories)
you're probably thinking about the game day roster, which can only include 45 players. Sometimes we would only suit 2 qbs on game day, but that rule has changed now, as the 3rd qb does not count against that number iirc.
I can dig it... 6'4'' 230 lb, racked up 85 rec, nearly 1,200 yards, and 12 TD this past season at UNC. He has an NFL-ready body and was very productive at the college level. The Arian Foster of this class? Some positives per ESPN: http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/player/_/id/28091/dwight-jones#
I like the Keenum pickup by the Texans. I was hoping they'd use one of their last draft choices on him, but this acquisition scenario is even better. I suspect he's got what it takes to make it as a pro with proper grooming and opportunity. If Kubiak thinks enough of him to have wanted him, that in itself says a lot. "That was the first call I made," Coach Gary Kubiak said (Houston Chronicle). We shall see.
I like the Dwight Jones pick up, also signed offensive tackle Cody White put of Illinois State. All offensive draft this year.
Anyone hear the 610 am interview with Dwight Jones? He is very high on himself. He got kicked out of his pro day bc his picture appeared on a nightclub flyer, so his stock took a hit. He's 6'4", 234 lbs, and ran a 4.46. He says that Andre has been his favorite receiver and that he will be the next Andre Johnson. They asked him to make a prediction for next season and he said that he will be starting this year. I like the swag!
That Jones kid looks like beast material. If he plays up to his physical potential, he might be the best WR we end up with.
Texans slowly shedding the boy scouts rep and taking chances on players with questionable track records, with the drafting of Posey and getting UDFA Jones to sign here. They hit a homerun with Arian and figured they can loosen the noose and see if they can find another gem this way.
Or they figure that a few "bad apples" won't hurt the good foundation that is in place already. The guys they picked could hardly be considered guys with questionable track records....most notably Posey and before him, Arian. I'm sure TJ couched for Dwight Jones, too.
Jones was considered the 4th best HS receiver in 2007 and top 25 overall in the country. Better than Arrelious Benn and Dez Bryant.
Your definition of questionable track records must be a rap sheet, Arian had a perceived attitude problem and Posey was suspended for infractions. The Texans steered clear of these type of players before.
Wait so this kid got kicked out of pro day just for being on a night club flyer? There has to be more to it than that for someone of his athletic ability to go undrafted.
Dwight Jones: “I Am The Next Andre Johnson” http://houston.cbslocal.com/2012/04/29/dwight-jones-i-am-the-next-andre-johnson/ Steal of the draft? Hope so or at least close to it.
