Boban is going to eat up a lot of bigs because he has elite length, the proper girth, huge, soft mitts, and most importantly a very very good varied skill set on both ends of the court. He can exploit smaller bigs (you know this means practically speaking every big in the league since he's simply a giant) with the post-up because he's a good post-up player. And he can also take longer more active bigs outside and exploit them in face-up or high post action because he has both passing skills and shooting skills. Defensively he's got elite length to protect the rim without ever leaving his feet.

When he gets run he's going to make some established NBA bigs look bad out there just like he did Okafor.

I stand by that one as well. If the Clippers are going to go anywhere this season, they're gonna have to play Cole substantial minutes or trade for another backup center than can defend the paint and hit his free throws.

Clippers are currently 12-9 with 8 of their wins coming against Minnesota, New Orleans, Portland, Orlando, and Denver. They have a huge Achilles heal in the middle with DeAndre bricking up 38% from the FT line. They're basically playing small-ball when they have to rest one of DeAndre/Blake and DeAndre's FT bricks start piling up against any quality team trying to win games. That's too easy to defend. It's too easy to put DeAndre on the line instead of face Paul and him in the pick-and-roll. Clippers can't win anything without having another solution at the 5 behind DeAndre that can hit freebies, run PnR, and provide plus interior defense.

Clippers are in trouble in the West. They're almost in the same predicament as us. They'll need Aldrich or another big to step up big time for them to go far in the playoffs.

Aldrich turned a corner in the last half of the 2014 season. He is now a quality big man in this league and is a great difference maker for a winning team as a backup big. Most people and coaches don't recognize it yet but he's there.

Cole has been horrendous this year, and Doc plays his starters huge minutes. Cole is probably done as an NBA player.

Neither is true. Cole will be in the league for many years. He's a quality defender at the 5 and he can hit his FTs at a very good rate. That's becoming an almost unique combination.

You can't be horrendous when you aren't getting burn. He's played a grand total of 17 minutes in 21 games for them.

Clippers will have to go to Aldrich or bring in another quality 5 (very difficult) to go anywhere this season. Mark my words. I know bigs.

Yeah and then was sent to the D-LEAGUE ... not destroying the NBA

Actually thoughz, Boban looks like he can play. Like a bigger more lumbering Al Jefferson in the post. His size and length DOES matter no matter his appearance. Players like him wear down the opponent just by giving him touches

On Cole Aldrich, I'm surprised he doesnt get more playing time. He's usually not a T-Jones type detriment when he's in. He provides sturdy willing defense and rebounding, its all you can expect from an NBA big now.

small ball era. Slow players have no place in this league anymore. you can still be a big strong guy, but you need some sort of athleticism and speed.

Case in point, the Grizzlies downfall thiss season is due to small ball style this season. Gasol is slow and unathletic, and even though gets his big games, is not as effective to winning ball than he was the past few season.

In the 90's, Boban would have been at least as good as Rik Smits, too bad he plays in the era of perimeter players's game. I don't think he can be a starter for a championship contending team, but if the likes of Robin Lopez can start, he has a chance in this league.

Boban has been good. There's not much denying that. For a rook, he's a good post defender. Has a lot of work to be an NBA starter but this was a steal of a pickup by San Antonio.
