Redick has decent size for a SG, my main concern will be his athleticism.

While shooting is the biggest need IMO, I'm not willing to draft a guy like Redick this high just for that. If it's between Carney and Redick, I'd go with Carney. Both have flaws, but Carney is a taller and more athletic. He's a much more well-rounded player than Redick.

my guess is when jvg and cd go on about bigger guards they mean they want at least a david wesley calibre player. height means nothing if the guy can't defend.

I guess the question is this.... When the Rockets pick comes up, if guys like Roy and Carney are off the board and the Rockets are left with looking at swingmen, Ronnie Brewer/Marday Collins do they just go with one of them because of a NEED to add length to the position....OR...do they perhaps go with the "best available player" and perhaps go with the undersized Randy Foye....even though we have a player of similar size in Head already on the roster. Of course Foye's game is different than Head's game. Foye is a scorer. I think more like Ben Gordon. Whereas Head is more of jump shooter.

And as for Allan Ray / Randy Foye is concerned.... Big difference there! Ray is pretty much just a jump shooter. That's it! Foye can create his own shot and score from inside and out. The Rockets could use that! They lost that when they traded away Mike James.

It will be interesting when the Rockets pick comes up what they decided to do, draft for "need" or "best available player".

I think they have to draft for best player available, except for center of course. If the rockets brass has shelden as the best player available then do you draft him? Same with Foye or Rondo? I think in this draft we should take the best player available and find "needs" through free agency/trades although that will be difficult too. I just don't think management will consider guys like Foye and maybe Rondo the best players available because we need size so they will probably draft based on need in a roundabout way.

I agree that we need help everywhere except at center. It will be a mistake to fill a need. The Rockets should pick the best player available. Their history suggests they probably won't.
