Quit your plexing. Although, I agree that undershirts should not be visible. There are many sexy men on this board you can take fashion advice from. Like me, and Trader Jorge. But more so from TJ.
Undershirt for dress shirts, polos, and even sweaters. No undershirt for T-shirts. Sweaters are hard because a lot of them have lot collars and so the undershirt shows. Might sound like I watch Logo but I have double-sided tape I use to make sure my undershirt stays hidden underneath my sweaters.
I'm glad this thread was made. I don't like how my undershirt shows when I don't want it to.. and how the sleeves are a little too big.. and I still don't get the point of the wifebeater...how does that absorb armpit sweat again?
That's why I wear a v-neck undershirt underneath when I drape myself in velvet. BTW, showing up to work w/ your collar up and your shirt tail hanging out probably won't help. Sometimes you have to play the game, my friend. Strutting w/ that pimp walk into the boss' office doesn't help either.
Men, if any of you have wife-beaters, throw them away immediately. There is no logical reason to ever wear them, and they look awful. I always wear an undershirt at work, and usually wear them outside of work, as well. The t-shirt looking white kind of undershirts. I never understood gray and black undershirts....I don't think they look good, personally. I have some v-necks for when I wear some of my more fashion-forward button downs where I don't want the undershirt to show.
I'll wear an undershirt if I'm wearing a Polo or button up. Gray and black undershirts look better than white on most things. If I'm wearing a black buttoned up dress shirt, I'm wearing a gray undershirt. Vice-versa. It looks good. What I've never understood is sleeveless crew neck undershirts. What's the point? I see them at the mall and
sometimes you have very form fitting sleeves and you don't want the undershirt sleeves to bunch up under your shirt.
Cotton undershirts for some button ups, and polos... until it is hotter, then I've used a "dri-fit" or "stay dry" type to still protect the outer shirt from pit staining and sweat marks. The undershirt really does extend the life of your shirts. I've seen some comment that no undershirt is necessary when hot... but actually, it can be quite cooling to have a undershirt catch perspiration. The gap between the shirts allows the hot air closest to your body to escape, and by convection, or heat exchange, cooler air moves across the dampened fabric to cool your body temperature. I learned about it in Royal Rangers as a kid... a scouting type program at my church. It's the reason why people on Safari wear undershirts with the khaki outer shirts.
This thread is a huge revelation for me, just as the 'peeing outside' thread was. I had no idea anyone wore something under their shirts, polos or whatever.
