I don’t get wife beaters. What’s the point of wearing an undershirt if the pits aren’t protected?

    WE MUST PROTECT THE PITS!!!

I always wear a crew neck or v neck undershirt. I want my shirts to last as long as possible.

to get rid of the undershirt look i used to wear deep dipping v-neck t-shirts but even then they were still uncomfy.

I have a dresser drawer full of black, grey, and white undershirts. I always wear an undershirt with a button down shirt or polo.

    Always.

But a big complaint of mine these days are dress shirts that have the last non-collar button too far away from the button on the collar thus leaving a big gap where the undershirt is exposed too much. Why can't they put that last non-collar button up higher on all dress shirts instead of just some.

When I was going through interviews in grad school, they said if you were to go out for an informal event such as a happy hour or something, one should pair their open collar dress shirt with a v-neck. I think that's a pretty good rule, and when I go out pretty much anywhere, I wear a v-neck under the dress shirt. But at work, I tend to stick with a regular undershirt (even with the stupid button thing).

I'd go "UNDERSHIRT"... 'cuz my wife loves it, and she's the only one that matters. :D
WIFEBEATERS are worn usually by peeps who think they will sweat a lot. It keeps the sweat from reaching the outside shirt and it is also hidden from view. Wifebeaters can be uncomfortable, though, as they're supposed to be snug and are rarely thick.

I use an undershirt ALL THE TIME. Else, I look like a ghost, what with no TAN on my chest... :(

    Mental image ... deep-dipping V-neck...

So I take it that you always undressed in private? ;)

I always wear an undershirt with a dress shirt.

I almost always wear one with a polo, or any kind of button up shirt.

Mainly, it's because if I happen to sweat, it's either not noticeable, or barely visible. Also, it's just more comfortable for me.

Now and again, depending on the shirt, I won't throw on an undershirt. But rarely does this occur.

With a polo/button down shirt...every time. I'd rather not show my hairy chest off to the world.

This bugs me too. The placement of the top non-collar button. Either it's too low and your whole chest/undershirt is showing or it's too high and you look like Gilbert from Revenge of the Nerds.

No undershirts w/ polos. And I use v-necks w/ open-collar dress shirts. Visible undershirts are unsightly.
