Under what circumstances would you be willing to trade Chandler Parsons?

Would have to be for a top 10 level player IMO because of the value he brings with his current contract.

Perhaps for a guy like Cousins who is promising too. But Parsons is more of a missing piece for a contender rather than someone you want to build around, so I don't think there would be a lot of good trade partners where you could get a clear upgrade for him.

I guess if I was outside looking in I would easily trade Parsons for most of the guys already listed in this thread. But I just can't wrap my head around trading him.

    I don't think he's easily a top 10 SF...

    better than:

    LeBron James
    Kevin Durant
    Paul George
    Carmelo Anthony
    Andre Iguadala
    Klay Thompson
    Paul Pierce
    Rudy Gay
    Luol Deng
    Josh Smith
    Jeff Green
    Kawhi Leonard
    Nicolas Batum
    Ersan Ilyasova
    Gordon Hayward

Granted the last few can be debated. CP is still not a top 10 SF. Getting close though!

    Reality check:

    - Subpar dribbler -- will turn it over more often than not when trying to create for himself
    - Line drive shot that I'm positive hurts his %
    - Not the elite defender that some of you think he is
    - No post game -- all the elite SFs have one

You don't want West, Lee, Lopez, Bogut, Zbo, or Griffin?

Parsons is only so valuable because of his age and contract. I remember when brooks was talked about as a top 5 pg when he averaged 20 ppg and was named MIP. It's homerism like this that led to my sig.

-David West is a free agent and old
-David Lee is just not very good
-Lopez is okay, but we have a center, he is overpaid and has some serious flaws in his game when it comes defense/rebounding
-Bogut is more or less Asik, but more expensive and more injury prone
    -Zbo is too old
-Blake Griffin is the most overrated player in the NBA.

Parsons is in his second year and just dropped 18/7/4 on 55 TS% in the playoffs on a great defensive team.

Yep. Every Rocket is a top 5/10 player, then they get traded and magically aren't top 5/10 anymore

I think Klay Thompson is shooting guard regardless of court lineup, and Iguodala plays SG a lot. I say Josh Smith and Ilyasova are power forwards regardless of their versatility. And I think Jeff Green is as "tweener" as can be.

Parsons maybe baaaarely a top 10 if you take those players out for a "TRUE" SF list. There's a couple others like Danilo Gallinari you can throw in there. But has to be in top 15. Considering he still has some upside to squeeze out even for a 4 year college player.

    Parsons might be TOO CHEAP.

What's to keep a team from playing hardball on the Rockets? He can be added into ANY TRADE package financially.

Would you hold onto Parsons to spite the other team thats giving you Chris Paul/Dwight Howard level talent?

You almost HAVE to BLOAT his salary up some, so you can keep him around holding off prospect bidders

On Brooks, you had Slam Magazine say he was "3rd Team NBA" 1/3 of the way through the season [at that time]
    http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2010/01/all-nbarookie-tracker-2/

Of course that's gonna help skew some of the perspective when its not JUST CF, its 'national' publications.

[At that time], Brooks was riding high, Brooks did league the league in 3pt makes. And there wasnt YET the CLEAR-CUT Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook contenders, it was still the CP3-Deron-Steve Nash-"Everyone Else" grouping over the next 2 spots, so probably anybody wanted to put "their player" in those spots.

Still seems silly to think about now, there was still Rondo, Tony Parker and plenty other guards, but that was the CONTEXT [At that time]. (And no I didnt put him that high, even then Brooks was top 5 in the DIVISION.)

Brooks probably still got the most homer-points, but yeah others got a little homer boost too.

he's a perfect fit for this system, ended up shooting 51 FG% and 41 3P% in the last 41 games. Not too many guys can do that.
