This might have been the best game ending shot we've had all year long.

As good of a look as you can ask for down the stretch.

Screw that. Quit blaming Rudy. Collier had a WIDE open look. Any guy in the nba should be able to hit that. He didnt', but he was certainly capable. Plus, his game is that of a peremiter oriented big man.

Don't get me wrong, I love Rudy. I think he's one of the best coaches in the NBA despite hoe people rip him, but a play for Collier? I understand pressure situations for these guys, but with the game on the line having your projected back-up center taking last second shots? How many time will he be in that position? Great effort by the guys, great game, I just didn't like running that last second shot for Collier that far away from the basket. Oh well, you live and learn, I'm still happy to have Collier on the team! JC! JC! :)

It was an open shot in an area that Collier can shoot from. He hit an identical shot with about 2 minutes left to tie the game. It was well run, well designed, Collier just didn't hit the shot. You're not going to hit everything.

BTW-Cuttino's shot was after the buzzer, from TV, it looked like the ball was barely out of Moochie's hands when the clock hit 0:00.

These games are for learning, and I think in the last few, we've found out a lot:
    1. Collier-Collier has proven to me that he's a great 3rd string center, with the possibility of becoming a very solid backup center. He's NBA material, while he won't star anywhere, he's got a big body, a solid shoot, good rebounding skills, and hustle. Probably not worth the pick, but he's good to have in case of injuries.
    2. Langhi-He can shoot when he has confidence. If he ever figures out how to be ready to shoot on a moment's notice, he could make a Bullard-like career out of it. He fights for rebounds, and I've seen at least 3 times when he should have deferred to Cato and/or KT and/or Griffin, and ended up knocking the ball out of bounds.
    3. Morris-He looks more and more confident with his shot. He looks more comfortable about 2 steps in from the 3 point line, but I think he can extend his range. Plays good D, hustles, excellent passer, unselfish. Definitely will stick on this team.
    4. Griffin-These last couple games, it was mentioned that Rudy is trying to get him more looks inside the arc, as he's gone cold outside. Lately, he's showed the ability to dribble in a couple steps and shoot the mid-range shot, and if he can get a post game working, he will be the ultimate weapon.

Torres and Brown still have the jury out, but Mobley has solidified himself as a scorer, and Kenny Thomas has increased his value. Still doubts for Francis' PG ability, and Moochie is inconsistent. Cato has played well enough to show he's not a fluke, and can be a serviceable center. And our draft position keeps getting better.

PS-Who thinks Yao Ming would hit that shot that Collier had?

The Indiana game sucked actually. Had they lost we would pretty much be assured of getting a much better pick from Toronto than we could have expected. Further, now we stand to get to get the 15th pick instead of the 14th pick from Toronto--even if Toronto hold on.

So Pacers, please tank your butts back out of our draft picture.

It was a good shot. And taking shots like that is just about all Collier does well. If you're not going to let him shoot, you might as well as cut him. Francis did exactly what he was supposed to - penetrate to get a man open. Shot just didn't go down.

Of course, I question why Collier was in the game to begin with, but that's another issue...

I don't think the play was called for Collier. Just like most plays in the early 90's weren't called for Horry or Elie. Rudy's offense is designed to give open looks to guys based on the double team. Collier's man left to guard Steve and he did the right thing by hitting the open man.

I was happy with the play. It was a shot that Collier can hit and Steve got it to him wide open. I though it was a good thing to see Steve trust a teammate other than Mooch or Cat for once. He only scored 14 pts, but he got his team nice looks. I was happy with his game.

Also someone made the point that when comparing Cato and Collier, Collier can hit his midrange shot. I have to disagree. While Jason takes the shot on a regular basis, Cato only takes it when he gets the ball with no time to pass. Cato is not a bad shooter. I'm not saying he should take 3 pointers, but I wouldn't mind Steve setting him up for some midrange jumpers once or twice a game.
