What a time to be alive. Corey Brewer is a positive on plus/minus in all our wins and negative in all our losses. We're only going as far as Corey takes us.
I actually don't think Brewer is that bad. He was just put in situations to create his own shots last year for some reason, and he's terrible at that. He should stick to running the break, hustling on D and taking WIDE OPEN 3s. I mean like the defender has to be 10 feet away.
Brewer is a terrible player - he is worse than Ryan Bowen. The fact that we have had to pay this chump 24m for 3 years is egregious. DD
If we waive him, though, aren't we still on the hook for Brewer on the salary cap? Can we stretch-provision him (15 million or so for the rest of his contract, so, 5 years to pay it rather than 2 years, reduce the cap burden by $4,500,000 or so) in case Morey doesn't find a reasonable (whatever "reasonable" means here) trade for him?
Its true we are undefeated when Brewer starts. He should quit while he is ahead. Its a great time to retire Corey!!
We would be on the hook, but I think of it this way: Brewer shouldn't be playing for us. We're going to pay him no matter what. Do we want him to occupy a roster spot or not? I don't know enough about the stretch provision or if it's available. But I would be amazed if Morey were able to trade him without forking over a first rounder. I'd rather bite the bullet at 6m cap space occupied next summer.
Being a fellow gator, I have mad love for Brew, however, that jumper is hot NYC garbage and his finishing around the rim is sometimes way off!
