This may not be good. I hope AB will not lose confidence over this matter. Otherwise, we are left with one PG. I know AB is not much good if he cannot shoot but when his shots are going in, he helps a lot. If he lose his confidence, he'll be playing like a rookie (we all know how he perform when he was rookie) which would be bad for the Rockets.
This still does not prove anything. I will give to Barkley when he mentiones that players with fewer minutes with a high PER have fewer minutes for a reason. If Lowry can put up 13 points and 6 assists with low turnovers and decent defense, then yaay we have another Rafer Alston. This team needs a real point gaurd, somone who can break 10+ assists on any given night.
If this is true, I don't necessarily disagree with it because Lowry has been playing very well. However, its a bit interesting because Brooks has played well against the Blazers this season. Maybe the reasoning is to give us a scoring punch off the bench with Carl Landry.
I think this thread should be locked since there is no legit source/link. There is no way Adelman would change his lineup right when the playoffs start. Heck, he wouldnt even do it 2 weeks ago if AB was playing just as bad as he has been playing recently. RA likes to have consistent lineup.
If his 13 points are scored on 4-7 shooting with a few free throws (Lowry gets to the basket and to the free throw line), than I say he > Rafer Alston.
The problem isn't so much the shooting as it is the assist totals. And when you say Lowry > Rafer I would agree but it's minimal.
Maybe they've been working on this for a while (you know, in practice!). It could explain the funk that AB's been in the last couple of weeks (starting with the Phoenix game): @PHO: 9 pts, 5 assists, 3 TO, L @LAL: 3/6/2/L POR: 14/1/0/W ORL: 11/2/3/W @SAC: 10/3/0/W @GSW: 20/2/4/W (no Yao) NOH: 5/0/1/W @DAL: 7/1/1/L last 8 games: 9.9/2.63/1.75/6-2 Take out the game without Yao (when he had to be more of a scorer): 8.4/2.7/1.4 Not sure if it's true or not, but if it happens, I don't think it'd be a decision that wasn't pre-meditated. Hasn't Morey been talking up Lowry as a starter on the radio lately?
Lowry was increasingly playing in critical minutes down the stretch. In the most important game of our season, the last game, Lowry played starter minutes and finished the game. This won't crush Brooks' confidence. He has had a good attitude about losing minutes recently and acknowledged his poor play. This move will probably be good for him. I think he was actually losing more confidence as a starter because he was in over his head.
AB is Adelman's pet Portland boy, so I'll believe this when I see it. Adelman is extremely loyal to a fault. Keep on playing, Luis, and pretend that Dirk isn't killing you; keep on trying, Tony Par---, er, Aaron Brooks, some day you WILL average more than 3 assists per game. Lowry is good as a starter. AB is good off the bench. It's how their games are suited. Against Portland it's a little less of a thing, given their slow point guards, but it is the playoffs, and we don't need Brooks flailing about out there.
I didn't think so, just to many ramifications if that was to actually happen. AB's morale would be in the gutter and re-adjusting would just make this move stupid in my opinon before starting the most important games of the 08-09 season.
