I gave 4 or 5 examples of very recent contract extensions... Which prove my point..

Compare those examples to the last 4 or 5 contracts handed out to DE and tell me who is getting more guaranteed money??

Yes, I am saying there is an elite qb in this draft. Maybe 2.

And it's Peyton, not 'Payton'... ugh

That's fluff stuff by Joe Russell. He's blowing smoke...

And who cares if Bridgewater is better than Stafford because Stafford is garbage.

Clowney's max potential is pretty much Mario Williams.

Most of his plays, not just this year, come when he beats the guy on first move. He doesn't give the effort to make a counter or 2nd move, this is key in the NFL as most plays are made on 2nd moves and rarely will you burn a guy on one move.

With him the defense would not be significantly better. Antonio wasn't a scrub at DE and our DL is probably the position that needs the least help on our team, especially from our highest picks. We need to sure up the linebackers.

HA! Good one. There needs to be a sarcasm font so no one takes what you just said seriously on accident.

???? I would take Stafford in a New York minute

BOB would turn him into a all-pro

You really think Clowney rights the ship? Even on the defensive end alone? Let me remind you Manning, DJ, Joseph, Reed, Mercilus, are ALL garbage. We have no NT, LBs who can set an edge, and all of the nickel guys are horrendous. Do you honestly believe JJ and Clowney will make Brice McCain or Shiloh Kao better?

Clowney doesn't have 'it'. He's been praised and entitled his whole career. A lot of the best pass rushers come from no name places and have something to prove. JJ had to transfer to Wisconsin. Strahan went to TSU, ware -Troy.

Clowney measures well and will have a good combine, but will be a bust IMO

Does Clowney "right the ship" by himself? Of course not, no one does. However, the tandem of Clowney and Watt plus whatever big NT they draft/pick up in FA will do wonders for the defense. Last year they couldn't get any pressure on the QB at all if they didn't send a blitz because all they really had was Watt and he couldn't do it all by himself.

    As to,
the Texans will almost certainly draft a NT, and Clowney would be an OLB who could "set the edge", as to Brice McCain, he shouldn't be on the roster next year and Shiloh Keo was a lot better than you give him credit for.

The rest of your post is just nonsense and I don't think it merits response.

I pass. I would rather let O'Brien work with Case over Stafford and his $100 million contract. You give Calvin Johnson no credit. Because all Stafford does is basically throw it up for grabs are short screen passes.

But guess you can say the same about Manning because over 70% of his passes are behind the line of scrimmage or 10 yards in. His receivers make something happen when they catch the ball.

Manning is great though _ Stafford isn't, but you have to give some of these receivers credit. Finding a great receiver is almost as hard as finding a great QB.

This article is old but interesting for any one who hasn't read it. I believe trying to build a great defense is the way to go to compete for a super bowl. Rather it's drafting Clowney or trading down and getting more picks and another defensive player. Especially when we already have J.J. in place.

But it doesn't count out the fact that great offensive teams win super bowls too and the percentages aren't that far apart.

I don't think I've ever seen a guy I was more convinced would be a paycheck player coming out of college than Clowney.

    Yep...

    Clowney cannot be trusted.

He has a lack of production (only 3 sacks last season) and a number of character red flags. The guy is a loser, and he should be some other team's problem.

    Great post.

    Finally, someone thinking clearly.

These guys all want Clowney because ESPN tells them so.

Hopefully the Texans are smarter than that. But, I do not have confidence in it. Afterall, McNair is a fool.. He can't get anything right when it comes to building a championship team.

Would piss me off greatly to hand the Jags a franchise qb on a silver platter

Uncle Bob didn't finish the job when he gave Kubiak the axe. Rick Smith can't draft for s*** if its past the second round. We have been terrible in mid rounds in recent years.

Get destroyed by Clowney and Watt twice a year and he'd retire unhappy that he never got to see the playoffs.

    Beat us every year.

If you watch football outside of the Texans you would realize Jacksonville has Blackmon (who will most likely be back) Shorts III and ace Sanders

They are potent to say the least...

I hope so, it will be problems for us if we let him get ball out quickly, especially with no top talent on the backend
