It isn't, AFAIK. I think DaDa works on this side of the pond.

Hayes, what happened to your company?

    DaDakota,

Congrats! BTW, did you ever get VC for your Austin company? I've just initiated the process.

He's also a CEO, not COO.

    congrats DD,

i looked at the product and unfortunately, i don't think i'd buy it. it looks like a kid's toy. if it's a lifestyle product going for 400 bux, i'd want something with a little bit more sophisticated styling in the sense of motoralla's V3 phone or sony's T1 cybershot (both of which i own). I'd just feel more comfortable with it around in my shirt and tie.

if it helps, here's my demographics.

    Sex: Male
    Age: 29
    Industry: I.T.
    Salary: 40K - 50K (yea i know, but i work for a small university)

maybe the younger demos think differently.

I agree... the design does leave a little to be desired. I paid a boatload for my Sharp TM100 Cell phone just because it looks cool... I would hope that something I paid 400 bucks for would look just as cool. It may sound cheesy but looks/design on tech products is key to them catching on... the iPod is proof of that. The product is impressive though.

since i'm talking to a CEO of a gaming company i'd like a chance represent for the older gaming crowd. Bring back 2d games that relied on gameplay and not bells and whistles, screw the 3d first person view:

Shinobi - exactly like the original but beef up the graphics and sound. That game was AWESOME

Ghouls and Ghost - keep the 8 way shooting and the spooky atmosphere (no tacky double jumps)

Contra - The sequels were tacky and sucked. The original was one of a kind

Life Force - Great game all the way until they made it one player at a time

I wouldn't mind someone remaking the orginals exactly the way they were but with better graphics and sound.

I don't think anyone has asked this yet; I hope DD is still reading.

DD - do you have a prototype Gizmondo? What are *your* impressions? You can skip the game part if you want (maybe that would give away too much), but what about the other "lifestyle" parts? Music, video...

IIRC, Gizmondo already launched in the U.K., so he could have easily checked out the final version of the Gizmondo by now.

It would be pretty cool if they did that with the portables at least. From what I can tell, the PSP should make 2D games look great, and I wouldn't mind some of the older games being remade or ported to the PSP or other handhelds. If they could put FF4-9 (including Tactics), Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, etc., on the PSP, I'd be happy. Of course, I'd like a few extras or enhancements made to the games, and preferably they would combine some of the games into one disc at one great price (no $50 price tag, which pretty much means no games like this from EA ;)).

If nothing else, maybe there will be someone who will be able to put emulation software on the PSP, allowing it to play most of these games anyways...

DD, I'll trade some boxes of trading cards + a few good autograph cards for a Gizmondo. Let's make a deal! :p

(At the very least, I'll remove you from my signature...)

Well it's not really unbelievable and somewhat of a life altering event, but for the first time in my life I now have my own office at work! With a name on the door and a window and everything.

Very strange! Feels like I'm cut off from the world!

    :)

    Wow,

    This old thread?

Sven is our COO...of Tiger Telematics, our parent company, I am the President of Gizmondo Studios, the publisher/developer side of things.

FWIW, when I took over the content was really not all together there.

However, it is coming around, and I am reading everything on here.

Gizmondo is a cool little device and the games are really starting to shine.

We are just now starting our US ramp up, the UK launch has allowed us as a company to get our feet wet and iron out a lot of issues.

Gizmondo is a risk for sure, but the ride has been fantastic so far, lots of ups and downs and tons of new experiences.

I am at E3 right now typing this at 7am, will get more when I get back from LA.

    www.gizmondostudios.com is our website.

    thanks,

    DD

I see you're hiring 3D game artists....Did those contractors finally smoke so much weed that you had to bring the artists in house? :D

DaDa, meant to wish you good luck with Gizmondo, and to bow in awe at your company making the front page of City/State in the Austin American-Statesman. I've enjoyed your marquee a lot. Congratulations... you're famous!

Folks, DaDakota has his offices in a former XXX movie house in Austin. I won't say where it is, or link the article this came from, but I've gotten a kick out of driving by. "There's too much blood in my caffeine system," "What's the speed of dark?," and, "Canada 2052 miles," are some of the gems. (I think it said 2052 miles... maybe it was 2053)
