Actually, for now I will still be based in Austin Texas, and making NUMEROUS trips over the pond. Been there 2 times already this year. As for strategy, our device does all of the things that you mentioned, and the 2nd generation will support tons more not yet announced. We all believe that a device is going to conquer that market, and we think the first one out of the gate has a great chance to be THE one. That is the Gizmondo. However, the big companies are all watching us, and I would not be the least bit surprised if we got bought out at some point, in fact, I would WELCOME it. The thing we have over companies like Sony, or MS etc..etc.. is that we are more agile and can adapt more quickly to changing times. For instance it took Sony 3+ years to get the PSP to market, it has taken us less than 18 months. We plan to push the industry forward at warp speed so that mobile technology moves at as rapid a pace as PCs did in the 90s. In conclusion we are not actively looking to sell our company, but we are also not saying "no" to discussions as they come up. TGTL is the stock symbol and it is trading at about $30 a share..... Thanks again to all the congrats, it is a huge opportunity, and my wife and I discussed what it would mean, more travel, longer hours etc..etc.., and came to the conclusion that we would drink the Gizmondo Koolaid for a year, and see how we feel. Thanks again, DD
First Mike James comes to Houston then Strickland gets waived and now DaDakota is leaving?! This day couldn't get any better! how much money are we talking about here? 200-300 grand?
I can't or won't say, but a good salary and lots of stock is the key to taking any risk. I don't want people to get the wrong impression, I am not planning on leaving, just not going to have time to post as much, at least I assume I won't. But if I can hire good people, it should free me up to just manage, and post on the BBS. DD
Congratulations DaDa. The Giz actually looks pretty cool. I have been holding off on gettign a portable for the time being, and I'll probably hold off until the Giz is released, and make a decsion then. Good luck with all the extra workload. P.S. What is the status of that LOTR game you guys were working on. Is that dead or is it still kicking?
Congratulations, DaDa! I'm pushing my way through middle-management right now and Hope to be pushing for upper-management soon. I hope all goes well! And I hope Gizmondo takes off! Do it well, and market like hell. Example: ipod. -- droxford
Hey DaDakota How could I learn more about becoming a 3rd party or independent software developer for the Gizmondo? -- droxford
We are beginning to actively look for those in the next couple of months. Do you have a team in place, or a game finished? DD
I am working on a Direct3D game in my personal time - it's sort of like a first person shooter. I know this is probably a long shot, but, just out of curiousity - what steps would I need to take in order to pitch the game to someone at gizmondo (I assume I'd have to contact someone working for you?)? any advice would be great..
Neither. And I'm not necessarily asking specifically about game programming. I have some ideas for other application development that would be... interesting... different. But development for some of my app ideas would be heavily dependant on the hardware, software, OS, API, etc. of the device itself. -- droxford
Currently we are not accepting outside application ideas, but that will change once we get our suggestion site up and running. DD
Good luck DaDaKota- all the best. I have enjoyed your posts for some time and have agreed with many of your opinions, and enjoyed those I did not agree with. Thought provoking! Post and Punk David S as much as possible!
