Spoiler 1. I remember reading an article where Tarantino himself stated that the briefcase was originally supposed to have contained diamonds, but that he felt that was too boring. So instead, he left it undetermined so that each viewed could come up with something that was beautiful to them. The rumor that it was Wallace's soul has also been unconfirmed. Spoiler 4. The case was suppose to have diamonds in it, but Terintino (sp) thought that wasn't "WOW" enough, and just chucked a light in there, worked out beautifully. My favorite theory was that it contained Marcelus Wallaces soul.

Roth was forming a deal together with Michael and he needed Michael's cash. In the movie, the only explanation that was given was when Micahel told Sonny, "[Roth] acts like I'm his son -- his successor -- but he thinks he's gonna live forever -- and he wants me out. So why did Roth want Micheal out? Why did he try to have Michael killed? Why would he want Michael out if he needed his $2 million so badly?
