Of YMCA League This is very painful to watch. Here is an explanation why he was the worst NBA rotation player last season
Okay, so we got a former Rookie of the Year who has something to prove -- on a minimum contract. And he's able to stay with quick guards on the perimeter. Regardless, MDA won't play him unless he earns his minutes. Nice comeback story or future salary-match for trade purposes. Either way, I'm good with it.
Wouldn't you rather have had Shane Larkin, Isaiah Thomas, Jarrett Jack, Ray Felton, Calderon, even Ty Lawson lol.? I know it takes two to sign a contract so if none of those guys wanted to come, that's fine. But I don't want to act like MCW was the best option.
Larkin/Jack/Felton maybe. IT wants to be a starter, so no. Calderon re-signed with the Cavs. And a big no-thank-you to Ty Lawson. If you're looking for a quick defensive presence on the perimeter (i.e., someone to keep up with Dante Exum next year), MCW isn't a terrible option. It's not like he's going to be a starter for us, or a points-off-the-bench guy, for that matter.
I think IT will be okay coming off the bench now after last season. He's the perfect prove-it deal candidate. Calderon actually went to Detroit but he could have been had. I thought Morey was building to beat the Warriors...not the Jazz.
I like how in that clip a couple of times the commentators expected him to make an open layup and exclaimed "MCW!".. ..and then the brick lol. Talk about anti-climatic just like the signing is. On the plus side, he is here for the minimum so hopefully that means Ryan Anderson is finally expendable. No use for both on the team. One guy that sucks is more than enough.
For the first time I’m glad D’Antoni doesn’t play a rotation greater than 7 guys. Rockets better not give MCW minutes over GGreen. Shades of Brewer all over again. Maybe Les did form this team over Morey’s head.
Maybe the layups I understood, not strong enough to finish with contact( . But the wide open shots/layups ?
He can get to the rack. I'm confident our staff can get him making a majority of those shots in the future.
If he was objectively good or even above average he wouldn't have been available for the minimum as a 27 year old former lottery pick, so there's a reason he was available at the price he was, and it isn't because he hit open 3PT shots well, finished >60% at the rim and was an efficient player. This is like the 5th time I'm seeing this video now, but those missed open layups and are balls are still funny every time
