The EU subsidizes our military establishment. They buy the overwhelming majority of advanced weapons from USA. It's europe that allows us to drive down costs of alot of the newest systems. The EU cutting off American weapons is going to cripple the defense industry
And it is either ignorant or misguided to believe that it is in the interest of the United States for a Sovereign country in Europe to be invaded by Russia, and it sure as hell isn't in the interest of the US for a wider war to break out in Europe. As Nook just said, we will be impacted regardless if you believe so or not. However you are only trying to gaslight though. We know you aren't actually making a case. Everything you do here is about simply trying to seed doubt in something very obvious. You know liberals care about things like expanding healthcare, not invading middle east countries for oil, and decreasing our need to spend trillions on defense. I think Trump wanted to court Russians against the Chinese much like what Nixon did with China against the Soviets. It's a big historically symbolic and showy move his advisers in Con think tanks would approve and glaze over. Since the Chinese aren't too fond of Russian aggression and bullying (see history of Vlodovostok or their comments up until Putin's invasion) and their common interest of friendship with Russia is to counter the US, it's a smart move to look reasonable and resume those cushy trade deals Europe went head first into right up until Putin invaded Kiev. At this point, these showy gestures indicate how short sighted and ham fisted the Trump admin is... like a 29 yr old 350 lb Zion on the court. It's not even possible to recoup trade imbalances with tariffs alone. The Hawley Smoot example doesn't apply because the US was a net exporter then and tariff backlash eventually hurt them harder than the initial tariffs. Export driven countries like China and Germany could retaliate but they still need American consumers, a point which Trump is leveraging but overplaying. Even if we reduced imports, it wouldn't be enough. For example, we tax companies 250B in tariffs, we get at most 25-50B in return while the companies either eat or pass onto customers. The research bot called it... would be like bringing a knife to a drone fight.
It's disgusting that Trump wants to ally with leaders who commit crimes against humanity, censor their media, and use their military agents to kill or torture their own people if they speak out. It's the opposite of good. The opposite of freedom. The opposite of Democracy.
I sincerely wonder what active soliders must be feeling especially in Europe? How do they not feel betrayed by the government pivoting to Russia after being told for years how RU is an enemy? We have soliders in europe transfer weapons and Intel to Ukraine cuz they thought they were fighting a good cause. Now suddenly they are being told not to tell the Ukrainian if a missile is headed to a hospital? I feel sorry for our soliders. They're being used as pawns
Trump would put our troops at risk if Putin wanted Intel. He has loose lips, and is too stupid to realize men like Putin and Kim Jong Un are not trustworthy. Not only that, he is more loyal to Putin than his own people. How many times have you seen him disrespect military leaders and veterans? Yet, he wouldn't dare disrespect Putin.
This guy has no idea what he is talking about. Being here in DFW I know alot of people who work on the Patriot missile system, and our tank programs. Guess what 95% of the projects they are working on are for, and who is paying for them?? The EU has already largely paid for and lined up to make up a large amount of the balance sheet for US based manufacturing businesses for AT LEAST the next 2 years. If Trump steps in to stop Lockheed, Raytheon, etc. from manufacturing for NATO countries those companies will lose at least 2 years worth of work, and the only way that industry does not go belly up is if the US steps in to increase our defense budget even more to buy up those contracts for ourselves, and increase our stockpiles when we don't really need them to be. The CEO's of these companies WILL NOT let Trump do this regardless. We are not going to stop producing arms for Europe, and you are wrong if you think incorrectly that European countries are not spending like crazy right now preparing for war. Guess who is first up right now for Patriot Missile shipments later this year??? Poland.

We literally trade to integrate Russia and China into the global economy and looked what happened.....The right has zero game theory strategy as they are supporting the Russia/China/Iran/NK order over our allies. What's weirder is literally a year or two ago wanting to go to war with China, North Korea, and Iran to now just months later having an about face, and now wanting to throw a parade for our new allies Kim Jung Un, Putin, and Xi. These people stand for NOTHING else than loving anything and everything that they think will piss off normal non-authoritarian people, and if Trump says it... I will follow it blindly.
