Normally, an assumption we could confidently take. Marco Rubio's cryptic tweet tonight is eybrow raising where this is concerned. On the other hand, maybe this messaging about Putin's "health" is a psyop to undermine his standing in Russia. I get the feeling they are speaking to the moderates in Russia with this.
Some brave mf'ers in the streets of Russia talking to BBC reporters. Anecdotal data are the worst, but still interesting to here some thoughts from Russians: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-60513632
Thanks for the informed response. The fact that Putin is threatening nations like Finland and Sweden IS a big problem. The fact that he is threading nations to not join NATO is because he wants the autonomy to attack them without possible consequence. He gets a pass because he is Putin and it’s Russia and it is bullshit. As for the Russian military. It is at worst the third best in the world and miles ahead of the fourth best (India). Many experts still believe it is the second best and it has been increasing spending greatly over the last 7-8 years. I wouldn’t assume they couldn’t fight a two front war, but they wouldn’t need to because they wouldn’t attack another nation until they had control of the Ukraine. The problem with Russia isn’t going away as long as Putin is in power. They have taken Crimea, have successfully moved into Syria and now have attacked the Ukraine and he has stated he has ambitions beyond just those areas… he also essentially turned Belarus into a vassal state while all this is going on by moving in Russian soldiers into Belarus and they will stay there.
This doesn’t surprise me but I don’t necessarily think it is great for Trump either. I wouldn’t say it’s bad, but I don’t think it’s quite as great as it sounds because of the extreme views on Trump and Russia on both sides.
I’m no expert. I am a buff of current military strengths, weapons etc… however I will say I firmly believe people (especially Americans) are underestimating how good and strong the US military is…. The USA has for decades spent more than the next 9 highest spending nations on our military and that doesn’t include covert spending. The USA has purposely held back technology, spyware and cyber attacks… the USA has almost as many fighter aircrafts as the rest of the world combined. The USA has unquestionably the best submarines and half the Aircraft carriers in the world…. The only thing the US trails in is tanks (largely outdated for war) and soldiers. Other than a nuclear attack by Russia or China, neither nation would be able to win a war against the United States.
Putin didn't invade Syria or Belarus. Belarus is junkie state and Russia is its dealer. Without Russia Belarus would fall apart and that's why it's a puppet state. Same with Syria. You are right that Russia has a big army but if things ratchet up with Finland, I would certainly support placing NATO air forces in Finland to protect their airspace and deter any kind of advance. I just can't see that happening based on how things have played out. Yeah, I would vote that too. It's not because Trump is some gifted politician, it's that Putin was waiting for Trump to leave office to invade because they are friends!
It's all about the nukes Actually there is one other reason why we lost the moral ground to stop this. There was a time when we wouldn't attack or invade another country without getting support from other countries. We built coalitions. Through the UN or through a large network of countries to not only give us the moral justification to attack, but the moral justification to stop anyone else from attacking another country. We set the rules on how warfare had to be played. You want to attack, you got to have a chunk of the world behind you. It's why we could stop Iraq from invading Kuwait, and why we could interfere in the Serbia-Bosnia-Croatia war. We lost that the day we went into Iraq pretty much alone with faked evidence.
Nah, we just rebuilt the NATO coalition that Trump tried to kill so his puppet master Putin could rebuild the USSR without opposition, but Biden saved the day by bringing it all back together. DD
What’s wrong about this polling is WHY people think Putin wouldn’t have launched this invasion. I personally am one of those people. Do I strike you as a Trump super fan?? No.. I think Putin would be less likely to invade…. because he wouldn’t have to. Trump is an entity that can be bought and sold at any price. I believe Putin could have gotten regime change in Ukraine without a single bullet being fired because I totally believe Trump would engage in helping overthrow Zelensky in a heartbeat. Hell… his first impeachment might have been the pretext for getting him out of office in Ukraine in the first place but thank God Vindman and co. were able to blow the whistle. So no… this poll is crap as most of them are. Yet people like Dagger like to present it as if people like me are actually pro Trump.
Give it to Trump and the Republicans for winning the image war. But realistic, it's probably not wrong. Trump was planning to pull out of NATO and blow up that alliance in his 2nd term. Europe would have to reset and regroup. Putin might just hang around Mar-a-Lago and down some Vodka shot instead of being a lonely isolated criminal.
Yeah the poll is wack, Putin wouldn't have to invade with his puppet Trump cutting off the Ukraine........Trump is a lap dog, weakest President this country has ever had.....Captain Bone Spurs.....the traitorous! DD
