Does that also apply to Russia/USSR?

You’ve really fallen off…. Are things okay at home?

I can see why you think its bizarre. You omitted the "being forced to by your government" and changed "violently die for" to "fight for". That should make it more clear.

Even being forced to you’re either being forced by a government that you had a say in or by a foreign government you have no say in.

Also whether you die in combat for Ukraine or for Russia your death is likely going. To be violent.

It’s still a bizarre argument. It’s I would rather be forced to fight later and die a violent death for the foreign dictator than forced to fight for the domestic democracy and die a violent death sooner.

Ukraine is a hybrid regime so they won't feel like they had any say. I agree both deaths might be violent, so putting that off a few years is advantageous.

Ukraine the last twenty years actually has had democratic elections where the opposition doesn’t fall out of windows. The same can’t be said for Russia.

fairness has nothing to do with it

it's about the stupidity of bringing a country on Russia's border into your anti-Russian alliance, foolishly escalating tensions with a nuclear power, rather than keeping Ukraine as a neutral buffer zone

Aren't the opposition parties banned and voting "delayed"? If I have a choice of being murdered today by a hybrid regime or 5 years from now from a more authoritarian one, I pick 5 years. The reason this is a conversation is the running out of bodies to turn into mincemeat.

Elections are delayed because the country is at war. It has had competitive elections as Zelensky himself was an opposition outsider.

Not fighting now is likely going to make the possibility of having to fight for the foreign invader more likely and sooner. For that matter given that Russia was documented committing war crimes like brutalizing civilians in areas they took while you might live a little longer it probably won’t be pleasant as Russia takes over and takes retribution on Ukrainians.

I don't get how anyone still supports letting Russia do it's thing at this point. He's killed over 2,000 children in Ukraine since his barbaric attacks started. Regardless of whether Tucker and Trump admire and praise Putin, the man is evil.

    The new conservative talking point.

Putin was shrewd to rebuild the Soviet empire from godless communism to christian nationalist kleptocracy.

Russia is 100% conscription and selective weeding of Undesirables. They took all the "best" aspects of China's Social Credit system and industrialized it into a soldier conscription apparatus that weeds out troublemakers in those areas.

If Putie ever drafted someone blue eyed from his power centers in Moscow or Leningrad, his goose would already be cooked.

Well appeasement worked well for Chamberlain and Europe back in the 30s. Worked well with Georgia in the 2010s. Worked well with Crimea earlier. Great point. So glad you commented with your vast knowledge of history and morality of nations.

My point was more that Putin's vision for Russian imperialism melds very well with western conservatism abroad. You're absolutely right that Putin has shielded the power centers from the meat grinder.
