Conscription is evil. No person has a right to tell someone they have to go die for someone elses cause.
and what if Democracies can’t field adequate armies simply with volunteers? We simply all capitulate to autocrats? Get a grip.
1. forcing humans to do things being done in history isn't a great argument. 2. Russia will make you fight who? Even if true, kicking the violent death down the road probably sounds pretty good.
1. There are plenty of examples of conscription going just fine. The vast majority of U.S. service members in WW2 were conscripted. Worked fine. 2. What is the alternative If you don't get enough volunteers? Simply let autocracies subjugate your county? 3. Russia under Putin has been at war in several countries/places (Ukraine, Checyna, Georgia) during his time in office. I don't suppose that is going to stop if wins in Ukraine. Do you?
1. not for the hundreds of thousands that died. 2. A few years ago everyone was saying screw afghanistan because they wouldn't fight for their country. Should we have enslaved them? 3. Do you want to violently die now or 5 years from now?
1. Worked pretty well for the untold millions who didn't die because of those U.S. servicemen's sacrifice or would you have preferred Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan and their allies continue on unchecked? What a ridiculous argument. 2. This is gibberish. It doesn't make any sense. Why, because Afghani's wouldn't fight for their democracy should we, the United States, have enslaved them? wtf. 3. I'd prefer to die fighting to defend my country, friends and family from subjugation, rape, torture and whatever other crimes the Russian Federation would commit then to refuse to defend my country, friends and family, become a slave of Russia and then be forcefully conscripted by the Russia Federation to serve in their military.
that sounds like a personal choice. congrats on having that freedom. Why take it away from others is really silly. War is dumb. Yes, even WWII. We lost 7000 Marines for Iwo Jima. An island that no one lives on and was of zero strategic importance.
Vietnam says hello. Because you know, much like the Russia/Ukraine drama, America as we know it would have failed. Someone has to stop those evil Russians or else you might have to go actually go drive down to McDonalds and pick up your own food.
This is a bizarre argument. It’s better to not fight for a democracy you’re in right now and instead fight for a dictatorship later?
Except Ukraine has already launched strikes into Russia including drones that hit Moscow. Russia’s own rhetoric doesn’t differentiate which weapons the Ukrainians are using.
At this point, I'm not sure which side htm is arguing for. I've seen Sachs and his views on other platforms and i respect him for it, but him showing up on tucker makes me rethink all of that.
Quoting from a tweet from Tucker Carlson?!?!?! Really? If Tucker likes it, it must be bad. As far as "regime change", yeah, sorry, but which country got invaded? Or have we got that all twisted around, too? Damn, you dudes live in some weird bubble.
The country on Russia's border that was trying to join the anti-Russian military alliance called NATO.
The alliance created because Russia/ USSR has historically invaded its neighbors…..? How’d the USSR and Russia get all that territory in Central Asia?!?! How’d the USSR get the territory in Eastern Europe? It’s embarrassing how ignorant you are about history. But Christian Taliban types tend to like Putin’s Russia.
clearly you should give your land back to the first nationers. Rules for thee, not me ... or however that goes
