It’s the two year anniversary of the attack on Ukraine by Russia. This never was going to be easy and fast as Americans we should know that wars are very rarely won or lost quickly. So many forget that in February 2022 even in this very thread so much talk was going to be that Ukraine could fall completely within a month and many were expecting a Russian victory parade in Kyiv in a matter of weeks. That the Ukrainians not only repelled that assault on the Kyiv but also kept Odessa and other major cities from being taken is a testament to both their fighting spirit and also the ineptness of the Russian military.

Whether Ukraine can win depends on definition. If it is about taking back all of its territory that is highly doubtful but if it’s maintaining it self as an independent country it is doing so. Russia is still numerically a vastly superior foe but the Ukrainians have shown with some material help and most importantly without US or allied soldiers other than a small regiment of volunteers, can hold out indefinitely.

Russian AWACS loaded with expensive detection equipment. Russia used to have 9, though a fraction were supposedly airworthy at any one time. Now they have 7. Price tag ~350 mil USD.

Material help they aren't getting from the United States due to the corrupt isolationist wing of the Republican Party, led by trump, that has a grip on the House of Representatives. A minority in the House that dances to whatever insane tune trump is whistling.

There are so many parallels to the dominance of isolationists in this country prior to Pearl Harbor that it's scary.

So many people in this country are IGNORANT to that fact - they have hurt our education system, dumbed it down and propped up mythology like religion.

The GOP is single handedly sinking the greatest country ever.

Russia and Belarus are ran by trash. Anyone that supports them or believes them is delusional or trash.

You can only circle the drain so long before everyone trying figures out you are trash.

Russia under Putin has often done foolish things. Some of them have paid off because of western cowardice…. Most of them haven’t paid off as their economy and social situation is rotting from the inside.

Half the USA isn’t even aware of it because trust fund baby Tucker Carlson is a troll.

To be clear - Ukraine hasn’t invaded Russia. When Ukraine starts invading other nations, poisoning and murdering dissidents and supports carnage around the world- we can have a conversation.

At this point Russian leadership is garbage - and causing chaos.

This is another “both sides” argument with little support. Ukraine has had problems and is far from perfect but compared to Russia under Putin and Belarus under Lukashenka it’s far better.

Putin and Lukashenka are autocrats who are maintaining power through fear and repression. Zelensky was elected in a contested election and as an outsider and a reformer. He’s fighting a war he didn’t start and given that Russia was already arming separatists in Donbas since 2012 that predate his presidency.

Putin got both Finland and Sweden to join NATO. He's a genius - Trump.
