There are no bond holders - it is the US government which is owed the money after paying off the banks in a government secured program. All the forgiven debt has been repaid in full and this is basically a crushing amount of interest. IMHO, all student loans should be ZERO interest....and then - I would be against forgiving them. DD
The debt isn't forgiven. Its simply passed on. There is no free ride as you are implying. The problem with people like you is that you never want to fix the problem. You're the perfect government stooge.

Exactly the government can't delete it's debts/liabilities......but it can delete it's collections.....the US government is not a business it's assets are not part of any valuation of the country..... It really isn't that hard to understand if you really want to figure it out. DD

It CAN delete money that is owed to it, we have done it many times over the years....all the debt from WW2's lend lease program was forgiven for instance. It is removing an asset from the collections column - it doesn't add to the debt we owe, it is just removed from a balance sheet which isn't like a companies because there is no stock, or valuation for the US country. Many people get confused thinking our government is run like a business, or a home, it is not. That is how politicians screw over the ignorant people because they don't understand that point.
