Yeah and there is that little issue of us essentially creating Bin Laden and gang to weaken the Russians, a motivation that is being replayed in Ukraine.

We're not finding guerillas in Ukraine. It's not even a puppet government, but the official and popularly elected government. Not a bin Laden situation at all.

I respect your honesty and I wish more folks were like it. Let me ask you a honest question. Would you be pissed off at biden if he pushed for a ceasefire and then gas prices came down along interest rates? This war is bringing massive refinery shortages and it won't get better till afterwards.

This war is a lose lose situation and it's going cost us Trump. Today's CPI report shows how sensitive gas prices are to overall inflation. CPI jumped m/m simply bcz of a small spike in gas. Folks just don't get it @rocketsjudoka

Biden will NEVER please the pro ukraine crowd. Zelensky is already bashing biden at home in the media about not sending long range missles. Until zelensky gets back all of Crimea people the ukr crowd will never credit biden. Its a lose lose situation

Russia and China have become such strong allies that China laid claims to Russian territory in a new map they posted last month lol.

Why is the anti ukraine crowd so utter dumb. They embarrass themselves by speaking lies and disinformation

I like you Glynch, and always appreciate your opinions, but you are just wrong here on so many levels.

    A. Ukraine will become part of the EU, and NATO after this war. That's a given. They have to become part of both economically, and militarily for their survival. Ideologically and culturally they will be part of western Europe.

    B. The Taliban was NEVER going to be part of a Western Alliance, and shares no international commonality with the West culturally, and ideologically.

    C. Osama Bin Laden took action against the US and organized Al Qaeda on behalf of SAUDI ARABIA which is where he is actually from. Bin Laden's big thing was that he took issue with the US under the Clinton admin setting up a military base on essentially Holy Land in Saudi Arabia where women were allowed to show their elbows, and people were drinking. 9/11 and Bin Laden had very little to do with the US' involvement in Afghanistan previously where we armed the Taliban against the Soviets. The only relation here was the fact that Bin Laden was using the open and unoccupied land in the mountains to hide out.

Make no mistake though... Bin Laden, and Al Qaeda is a Saudi Arabi issue more than it is an Afghanistan/Taliban/US issue. Yes the US has issues here where they are arming and training some folks that are high risks in the region. However it doesn't mean that the US was wrong back in the Soviet's war in Afghanistan. It was also a very very popular position at the time. Even so popular that even Hollywood and Stallone based their third Rambo movie around the premise.

Does the US need to be more careful (especially with it's relations with Saudi Arabia)... fck yeah. Does it have anything to do with how we should be viewing the US' support for Ukraine to defend themselves... hell no. This is entirely different.

The Russia - China relationship is so good that Russia is hosting freaking KIM JUNG UN where he is exchanging food for ammunition. Does anyone realize how pathetic Putin looks having to befriend freaking Kim Jung? If China was such a strong allie of Putin and Russia, there would be no need for Putin to further debase himself like that.

Putin strongest ally is Trump and GOP. His entire playbook is to prolong this war and keep gas prices high alongside the Saudis so Trump can win Once trump wins he knows Trump will throw UKR to the wolves. I dont buy your notion that UKR is somehow determined to join EU. Folks here arent taking the threat of trump winning seriously enough. If trump wins he will stop all aid to UKR and Putin will do whatever he pleases with UKR.Theres NO universe that Trump takes a hit on gas prices to help ukraine. Thats the most delusional thinking in the world. Theres still a possibility that RU takes over all of UKR once Trump cuts all aid to UKR.

Ukr needs to think of a exit strategy to end the war. The issue is that zelensky and his people are too busy bashing biden to even think logically.

BTW creating closer ties between Russia and N. Korea is one of the unintended consequences of insisting Ukraine abandoning neutrality which worked quite well for Sweden, Finland, and Austria.

I don't disagree at all with that except my understanding is that Ukraine joining EU is already in the works.

    https://www.reuters.com/world/europ...k-before-joining-eu-von-der-leyen-2023-09-13/

My premise too was assuming that the war ends with Ukraine having kept most of if not all it's territory West of the Dnipro river. If Zelensky makes a deal that involves gifting Russia Crimea and the East of the Dnipro, he cannot do that without assuring an alliance with the West. Otherwise Putin will just sign the peace treaty, then the next day continue the assault like nothing happened. That's why I don't really see Ukraine existing without becoming part of Europe and the West.

If Trump wins, yeah I think it's safe to say that he is going to move heaven and earth to force Zelensky into submission to Putin, and Zelensky is likely a dead man walking. Trump will say that he saved lives and created peace when really he enabled someone to continue the path that led to two previous world wars. If Ukraine falls, I think Europe will brace for war with Russia at some point.

What SpaceGhost and Glynch don't comprehend or want to comprehend is that this isn't about wanting to punish Russia for being Russian. This is about preventing World War by not allowing dictators the ability to just expand their power, influence, and wealth by invading neighboring countries. This isn't that hard to understand why we are helping Ukraine out here. Their heads are just too wrapped up in the pro-Russian propaganda that lands in the far right and far left where there is soft US support for America inside of America.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Ukraine didn't abandon neutrality when they were the ones who were invaded. Are you actually trying to say here that it was Ukraine who struck and invaded Russia as an act of war? Otherwise, I'm not really understanding the premise.

The only person who made sure NATO expanded was Vladamir Putin. Finland, Sweden, and ultimately Ukraine had no intention of joining NATO until Putin decided to invade Ukraine. Nobody promotes NATO expansion MORE than Putin.

    1. I agree with your premise 1000% which is why it's vital for zelensky to secure a good deal with West now while biden is in power. Have a iron clad security guarantees while you can bcz biden is in power. Ask for a permanent us base in Western Ukraine. Have the base codified in the upcoming NDAA.

    2. You're making my point once again. Ukr self interest is to negotiate a good deal while Biden is in power and they have leverage because biden is in power. The day Trump wins Zelensky will have zero leverage as putin knows Trump won't help him.

    Ukraine has 2 options

    1. Secure a somewhat long term favorable peace that secures us troops in the country and protects their land long term. This will also help secure reconstruction $$$ for the country and help rebuild

    2. Gamble on biden and keep the offensive going. This option has low chances of success as it would keep gas and energy prices elevated which only helps Trump win in 2024

We all want Ukraine to win and they deserve to win. There's nobody arguing this except the bernie bros and libertarians who are clueless about everything.

Life sucks and Ukraine deserves to get back all their territory but unfortunately life sucks and its not fair. These are the 2 realistic options they have.

The current way they're going it'll take 96 years to take back all the territory Russia has taken. It's just utterly delusional

Wait. You think Vietnam was wrong to resist the U.S. invasion of their country and that they regretted the decision?

Yep. I definitely think Biden and Zelenskyy would want to make that deal now. Especially Biden who needs this over with going into 24. American voters can tend to be too ignorant on these issues and I worry too many people are just seeing this through the lens of a casual US war machine lens.

Zelenskyy might be a bit hesitant because of the politics at home especially in Odesa and some other port cities where tough choices are going to be made that impact Ukrainians if some cities that want to be Ukraine end up being gifted to Russia which makes their lives worse. That being said I do think Zelenskyy would deal today if he could.

The problem is Putin and Trump. Putin thinks if he just waits Trump will get elected and Putin wins. So I don’t see any incentive for Putin to come to the table until after Biden hopefully wins in 2024.

It’s just such a lose lose situation right now for Biden and relies way too much in voters being educated on the dynamics. There’s virtually no hand Biden can play here imo until he wins the election and he might not win the election because of this war.

Just a thought… it might be smart for Biden to go on the offense politically here at home and put tv spots out that claims Trump could end the war today if he stops promising Putin war glory if he just waits till 2024. Make it look like Trump is interfering to EXTEND the war now. Put this politically on him.
