“The leader of a small online gaming chat group where a trove of classified U.S. intelligence documents leaked over the last few months is a 21-year-old member of the intelligence wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, according to interviews and documents reviewed by The New York Times. The national guardsman, whose name is Jack Teixeira, oversaw a private online group named Thug Shaker Central, where about 20 to 30 people, mostly young men and teenagers, came together over a shared love of guns, racist online memes and video games.” https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/13/...ytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare So some random 21 year old is doing this for clout at best (or treason at worst). The Feds need clearly revamp our national security apparatus if this can happen. A 21 year old national guardsmen has no business looking at this kind of information.
Since this dude is a gun loving racist idiot, Trump should use his mental powers again and declassify everything the idiot posted.
You meant pardoned after serving 7 years? Yea, probably much more than that since it sounds like it impacted human intel in Russia (maybe dead by now due to this leak).
What exact intel was released that impacted human intel more than Manning? The answer should be : Both should be in jail and certainly not pardoned or acquitted
I think a pardon is ok if the sentence is too harsh, and the leak exposed government abuse and did not harm people working for US intelligence. 2023 Pentagon document leaks - Wikipedia The leak further reveals which Russian agencies have been penetrated by U.S. intelligence. The leak imperils future intelligence gathering efforts as targeted governments take countermeasures and patch up revealed vulnerabilities, and also threatens human sources and whistleblowers in Russian organizations.
This is serious. He needs to be severely punished because he did a lot of damage and compromised his country.
No, a pardon is not ok for any reason. This person knowingly broke the law. There are many cases where service members have permanent records for doing a fraction of this or unintentionally breaking the rules. Pardons should not be handed out for political brownie points. I have no problem with the early release.
Sometimes a person has to break the law to expose government abuse, but they still have to face the consequences for doing so. There might be a difference in terminology here. I am okay with an early release, but not with the idea of no or very limited time served.
Yeah, but ... for that one day ... in that one chat room .. dude was The Man. He will always have that.
@Nook punished? Right wingers like @Commodore @CrixusTheUndefeatedGaul are celebrating him like a hero. This is what the republican party has morphed into. Celebrating traitors
[Kotaku] The Big Discord Military Secrets Leaker Was, Surprise, A Racist [Update] Any potential arguments that this kid was a "whistleblower" are ridiculous. He was literally just showing off to try to win internet friends. The version of the story that syncs up with reality is that his motives were the most selfish and banal motives you could attribute to his actions. He was apparently actually even surprised when the documents made their way off of the Discord where he posted them.
I don’t think anyone here is stupid enough to call him a whistleblower. Chasing clout on discord is miles away from that. I just wanna know how he gained access to this intel.
