I get tired of people posting about "Boomers" like they are some monolithic group that all think the same way, vote the same way, hell LOOK the same way. Here's a "Boomer" for you: ............................................ Ukraine's Defense Intelligence Directorate (GUR) claims that Russian Kalibr missiles were destroyed during transport in the town of Dzhankoy, home to a Russian airbase in the occupied Crimean peninsula. "An explosion in the city of Dzhankoy in the north of the temporarily occupied Crimea destroyed the Russian 'Kalibr NK' cruise missiles during their transportation by railway," the GUR claimed Monday on its Telegram channel. The missiles are "designed for launches from surface ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet." Spoiler
Right, except ...... Ukraine doesn't want to accept a ceasefire... A ceasefire only helps Russia. Ukraine has been very consistent that they just want Russia to leave Ukraine.
Not according to Sergey Lavrov, who is the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs and a spokesman for Russia - he said that Russia is at war with NATO, and we are a member of NATO.
Well, if we invaded and occupied Mexico, claimed it wasn't its own country, kidnapped its children, raped it's women..... shelled large portions or it and murdered their citizens - then I would expect that Mexico would start arming themselves with Chinese and Russia weapons. Your "what ifs" are absurd and not even close to the situation in Ukraine.
Nobody is talking about invading Mexico or Mexico invading the US. This is an astro123 red herring to avoid the original questioned asked. The United States is the worlds largest arms dealer. While this is a great economic boom for our country, it also allows us to control countries who uses our weapons. They are forced to do as we say or else we will cut their support, sustainment and spares. This is why we leave the bulk of our equipment behind in our failed occupations ... The heavy weaponry is useless without us sending them spares and support. There are compromises but the west simply doesn't want to compromise. Its "do it our way or the highway". This is decades of US policy, not some Bush/Obama/Trump/Biden's fault nonsense. Our country enjoys cheap money and cheap commodities at the expense of the rest of the world.
"The west doesn't wanna compromise" which is why biden removed sanctions on Nordstream 2 and removed troops from Ukraine. Seriously speaking do you get tired of being on your knees sucking off Russia? You repeat the same garbage ass talking points for the previously 100 pages. I'm not sure if you're able to read or not (50/50) but I recommend you to go read putin speech before the invasion where he said he wanted to recreate the old Soviet union Your boomber brain is literally shattered in pieces.
What you can't seem to comprehend is that the U.S. can have a history of very problematic foreign policy (It Does!) and that Russia's invasion of Ukraine is completely illegitimate (It Is!) and that materially supporting Ukraine in repelling Russia is the morally correct action and in the best interest of the United States, western Europe, and democracy globally. All of these things are simultaneously true.
These folks think because America had a imperialistic history that makes it okay for putin to do whatever he wants. They completely ignore the Ukrainian population as real people.
Good luck with that. He claims to care only about the Ukrainian people but ignores that they are the ones that are resisting Russia to the death and they are the ones asking for our help. Then he complains that we give it to them. And, of course, he then repeats completely fake propaganda straight out of Putin's (or Elon's) mouth such as the lie about Ukraine demanded all their men come home from abroad. Everything he posts is total nonsense.
I dont disagree with anything in particular. I have never stated Russia has a right or alluded to being the good guys or that Ukraine shouldn't defend themselves. I have repeatedly stated this is not our war to fight and one of Putins strategy is to draw the US into another war. While it is in the best interest of the United States to get involved, we have no right to get involved. By using the word 'best interest', you are justifying Putin to expand, or to reduce the influence of the west. Best interest is a terrible phrase to use to justify an action. By this logic, its in China and Indias best interest for Russia to continue the war. I can't answer to Russia's compromise until one is given. I can speculate that Russia absolutely does not want a NATO army literally on their border just like any other country would not want a Russian army on their border.
Sounds like you disagree with yourself. Your points make no sense. "Putin's strategy is to draw the US into another war" and "Russia absolutely does not want a NATO army literally on their border." If Putin is trying to draw the US into a war with Russia by helping Ukraine, then by definition the US is adopting Ukraine into NATO, and bringing NATO to Russia's doorstep, and literally that means NATO is stepping OVER the doorstep and into Russia to go to war with Russia. NATO being on Russia's doorstep literally is speaking to the fear of conflict with the US, and the West. Your logic here makes no sense, and I get the feeling that you are just trolling. You either support what Putin is doing, or you don't. If you don't we can argue about how to best help from our position, but nothing you have ever mention points to a position that ultimately isn't pro-Putin.
Estonia and Latvia say hi. Beyond that, a NATO army wasn't on their border in Ukraine, nor was it planned to be. Russia's actions have made it far more likely though. They also added Finland to the list of neighboring countries in the very near future.
Don't forget Sweden opting to join NATO in 2022. Look how close it is to St.Petersburg, the second largest city in Russia. Putie-tang really ****ed up. Russia has a long history of invading neighboring countries.
No, it isn't a red herring. You asked how we (the USA) would feel if Mexico started buying arms from China or Russia. You said this in reference to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Once you annex part of a country, then invade that same country - bomb it, kill it's people and kidnap their children - you have to expect that the country you invaded is going to be hostile to you in the coming decade. Further, Russia made the decision that it did not want to join the West - and that is their right, but if they start annexing parts of other nations and invading other nations - then they should not be shocked by sanctions of support from the West for the non aggressor nation. This is all pretty clear cut.
Why? Based on what? Ukraine was invaded and they asked us to get involved. We have more right to get involved than Russia does annexing and invading another nation. Russia had an opportunity to seek membership in NATO.... but they didn't want that. Why? Because they want to take back former Soviet Republics. Further, Russia has zero right to tell Ukraine if they can or cannot join NATO.
