While the risk of nuclear war feels undersold in the media, I'm more inclined to believe we'd be headed there regardless if Putin were to use teactical nukes without direct attacks on wholly owned Russian soil.

The brutality they're inflicting on Ukranians and Russian protestors/dissidents is something you see from a shithole country or maybe a cable documentary featuring warlords with thick accents.

I was fine with letting the cancer fester if early peace was brokered to shield Europe from a guaranteed recession, but I don't think the west should be the first to bend given that Ukraine's visibility makes it hard for Russia to get away with their warcrimes yet again (crimea, georgia, Chechnya, etc...).

You are essentially the definition of a partisan hack, no matter how much you pretend otherwise.

And you're not anti-war. You're happy to let Russia invade whomever they want. You just don't want the US involved, regardless of the consequences. Sounds very much like you'd have to been happy to let Nazi Germany take over the world back in the day.

Good to see they quickly realized the stupidity of their position instead of doubing down.

One huge takeaway for me over the past 7 months is that the Russian army is nowhere near the global leaders in military tactics, equipment or personnel. Putin is going to blink and I wont be shocked if he uses tactical nuclear weapons, he will ramp up the rhetoric to see if Ukraine will blink and when they don't he may be out of options and I don't see him "losing face" over this........the POS has no regard to other humans, he`s all about power and greed..........that's why a certain politician loves him some putin

Was this the action of a rogue staffer? It seems odd that those representatives would sign it and then have Jayapal just sit on it and suddenly a staffer releases it.

Sounds like a bus toss excuse, but I've heard people in the know talk about PJs office and say its pretty disorganized chaotic place to work even by Hill standards.

[Bloomberg]Too Much Gas. Europe’s Energy Crisis Takes a Surprise Turn
    • Gas storage push pays off, with prices down from summer peak
    • Much depends on the weather over the coming winter months

Europe suddenly has more gas than it can use.

Starved of the Russian imports on which its long relied, Europe has rushed to import liquefied natural gas from around the world to fill up storage. Now, a combination of unusually warm weather and successful bidding for cargoes means facilities are almost full before Europeans have even turned the thermostats up. Gas prices have also fallen back sharply, and are less than a third of their summer peak.

    The rest at the link.

We are the last bastion of untainted white power. I'm totally not a racist, I just tell it like it is!

Guessing this does nothing to hurt Russian support in "certain circles" that currently support Russia in the US.

Anyone else find it ironic that the Nazis regarded the Slavs as subhuman?

Unless something drastic happens with Putin/Russia, there is high likelihood that we'll see a nuke go off in Ukraine very soon.

However, I don't think the outcome will be nuclear war, although I wouldn't be surprised if N. Korea jumps on the chance to drop a bomb on S. Korea or Japan as well. But I think the international community will completely isolate Russia if they **** around with nukes. 100% cut them off, with possibly the exception of Iran and N. Korea, who will also be completely cut off if they don't stop aiding Russia.

Mildly ironic. Baptisms before entering combat using a makeshift basin made from a cardboard box and... a body bag. I'd pass, thanks.

    Translation:

Baptism in bags for "cargo 200"

The level of provision of the Russian army in one story - Archpriest Viktor Ivanov baptized soldiers on a fallen log, in which they put an ammunition box and laid a black plastic bag intended for the bodies of the dead. And all because they could not even find a simple basin.

    The symbolism is just overwhelming.

    What could go wrong?

The first time the Ruskis try to **** over the Afghan soldiers like they do all the other soldiers, ...
