Rebuilding has to be a two way street You assume the powers of post soviet Russia wanted to share or give up power. Seems like the West understands Russia a lot considering how NATO just got stronger.
Russia is not complicated, but they are also ignorant of how the rest of the world works - though with all the travel the younger generation is bringing some of that home.....it can only help. DD
They aren’t ignorant, they just want to be in control of their surroundings who don’t necessarily want to be controlled by them.
Like Mongolia had a choice. Russia was already building out the infrastructure to send its energy east. Wont be cheap to build all those pipelines across the rough terrain of Central Asia into China. Russia is quickly becoming a vassal of China.
