Seems odd that the US keeps reiterating that they expect a Russian invasion any day. If US intel thinks he's bluffing they shouldn't say it because then it might actually provoke Putin to invade. I think he's bluffing and is going to back down.
US intelligence doesn't think he's bluffing. They are hoping saying he's already decided to invade and exposing the pretenses he's using will get him to back down. I'm 95% certain it won't work, though. Putin decided to invade a long time ago and he's going to go through with it.
They also raised the alarm about what Putin is currently doing. He isn't bluffing or backing down, he just declared parts of eastern Ukraine as independent.
Putin is the only one that will decide to invade or not. No one is provoking him to invade. Everyone is trying to persuade him to not invade. If anything, Putin can decide to not invade to show how wrong the US and UK are. It's a good political ramp-off for him. People really need to stop trying to blame any State or anyone else for Putin's aggression.
-NATO has never been closer. That’s on Biden. -Germany has not folded on energy because of Biden No Putin did not want Biden to be at the helm while he was going to make this move that he was always going to move. Had Trump had been in office there’s no way that NATO would be this unified and there’s no way that Trump sacrifices economic uncertainty in order to prevent a major conquest from a brutal dictator. Yes… Putin is not happy that Biden is in office right now. Trump would have made this process much easier and everyone already knows that he only does this with the military because he knows he failed to do this politically by convincing Eastern Europe that Democracy does not work.
Exactly. The entire world is trying to convince him not to invade. This isn’t about Putin vs Biden. It’s really Putin vs the world. Putin has ordered Russian troops into separatist regions of Ukraine, so in my mind he’s already invaded. I say Biden and the rest of the world needs to enact the toughest possible sanctions immediately on Russia.
You hit it on the nail. Putin didn't want to piss off China, the only major State that hasn't spoken out too aggressively against an invasion while stating they support Ukraine's independence. If this spins out of control, there's no ****ing way I'm letting my kid(s) get drafted. My oldest is 16 and is definitely going to college but if there's some protracted, escalated cold war, it could stretch into my 6yo and 4yo being of age. I know it sounds alarmist, but you hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
This guy had 100% Sisu running through his veins. My great grandfather was Finnish and was wanted by the Russians and immigrated here in the early 1920s.
