I wasnt bragging about anything...i was making fun of you. Randomly throwing in that you are sore from working out...hilarious. Just about as random as the scenario I threw out there in response. Not that difficult to comprehend. Maybe if you hit up a tier 1 school, I wouldnt have to explain.
Class of 05 representing. Also a Taub Hall resident until I moved to greek row. I would not trade UH for anything. I also graduated top 10% of my class in highschool and had my choice of public schools. UH gave me a full ride and I don't regret one second of it. I was enrolled in the honors college, lived on campus, was a founding father of a fraternity, volunteered my time to assist disabled kids and maintained two jobs. I majored in Bauer Business Management and the newly ranked #1 Entrepreneurship undergrad program in the nation. If this sounds like bragging, its not, its me showing my pride for the time and effort I put into my college experience. "UH is a commuter school, Cougar High, bla bla bla bull*****" One thing is for sure as one poster stated, if you want to get the most out of UH you need to put effort into it. I did that and the results were incredible. The Entrepreneurship Program deserves its number one ranking. It is nothing short awe inspiring to be able to have as your mentor a CEO worth millions who has been there and done that to call up for help when you need it. Burgerfest was like the college version of The Apprentice, and our professors (all successful former CEO's themselves) covered everything from balance sheets to proper wine and golf etiquette. It helped mold me into the man I am today and is a large reason for my success. GO COOGS
Haha, for some reason I knew you were going to say you were a dentist. So are you in Houston then or up there somewhere?
I run a security consulting business in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and the U.S. I'm actually in a course right now certifying myself as a Poligraph expert to work with US Embassies in these countries to help with terrorist and narco trafficking investigations. The one thing I recommend is that you never stop learning. Before you get married and have kids pack in as much post grad learning, certifications, courses and diplomas as you can. Its a blessing to able to continue my education.
For those who lived on campus, more specifically The Quads (or do now), Momma Green in the OB Cafeteria had a seizure yesterday!
Yeah! They took her to the hospital and everything. They said she is doing much better though, so that's good.
So does having a suite mate whose girlfriend wants her dog to do its business in the human toilet. Paw prints on the seat and dog urine in the air. But living within walking distance of Frenchy's, Navy Seafood and a Shipley's? Ain't nothin' like bringin home a cup of gumbo at one in the morning in shin-high water during Tropical Storm Allison.
Navy's Seafood? Where is that at? I haven't been there yet. I have been to the other places you mentioned including the Cheesesteak place which is good. Not to mention the Whataburger, Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, and now the new McDonalds runs late at night which are good too (all within a 5 minute drive )!
I didn't have a car all through college, so everything I did was in walking distance or had to have a direct bus route. (This meant that a trip to Meyerland Plaza or Sharpstown Mall was actually easier than going to Gulfgate). When I graduated back in '02, Burger King, Shipley's, Frenchy's and Navy Seafood were on Scott Street behind the Roberston parking lot; Popeye's, Domino's and "Save My A" were little further west. And "Somethin' Serious," the greatest ghetto barbershop in all of Houston, was just a little furhter down at Scott and Mcgowen. Interesting to hear that McDonalds is open late, a lot of the restaurants in, ahem, "that area" use to close up the dining room before 9:00; I would even see the attendant run up and lock the door if they saw me walking up around 8:40. If it weren't for the abject poverty, social isolation and complete uncertainty about my professional future (even as a business major) that I experienced then, I would love to go back to college. By the way, the only "good cheesesteak place" I ever needed at U of H was the grill at the cafeteria at Moody Towers.
Yessir, I was out there but there were more than 3 dudes. Next time you see them, just ask for Keeyan, and if I am not down there just tell them to call me down or something. There are a couple new people that I don't really know though so if you catch them and ask for me, they might look confused lol.
