Uh-oh Those NY picks might not be that valuable after all in trade

Did you just awaken to the idea that the Knixies are +/-$35mm under the cap with an avowed strategy to get Lebron +? Wow, until this I thought they NYK's of next year would look like the NYK's of this one.

What filler? All NY has are 4 guys under contract (one of them being Eddy Curry, presumably they can use the 3 other guys) and 2nd round picks. They don't have a 2010 first rounder, can't trade their 2011 first rounder (i.e. the lower between Rockets and Knicks first rounder, except if it's 1st overall) because they've traded their 2012 first rounder (subject to protection).

The Knicks have been snatching defeat from the jaws of victory routinely for years now. Who here thinks that trend finally ends this year? Anyone?

I will believe it when I see it. Until then, I will expect to see the Knicks acquiring top-dollar, free agent talent a-la the New York Yankees, which is exactly what the Knicks have been doing for a long time now. The current rumors sound like a continuation of that same pattern and practice of selling there future for a fast fix right now. That sort of play usually does not pan out. Maybe this time it will work out for them. But if the last ten years are any indication, then probably not.

I don't think you're watching the games. Lee has always rebounded well. Most great rebounders don't get to play next to other great rebounders. Is Dwight competing with anyone on his team? Zach Randolph never competed with anyone until this year and he kept his rebounding rate up. David Lee just beats guys to the ball with pure hustle. You don't get nearly 3 boards per game on the offensive glass just by standing around.

And how on earth is Scola a better rebounder than Lee? They're both hustle rebounders, but Lee is Scola on steroids in terms of rebounding. Don't forget that Scola's not competing with anyone on this team, either.

Joe Johnson to NY is hardly news. Considering he shares the same agent(Arn Tellem) as T-Mac, and given how much Walsh kissed T-Mac's ass with the trade.

Can anyone on this board remember the last time a NY media outlet had a reliable lead on any player movement? NY sports writers print what they pray will happen and call it a news leak. The only positive thing is that it didn't come from Peter Vecsey.

Those NY picks are only potential lottery picks. If the Rockets want to cash them in for full value it'll have be part of some kind of trade package IMO.

    They could try to/get:

    Trade up in the draft
Steve Nash (If Amare leaves the Suns for nothing in return, no S&T)
    Rights to Rubio
Extend and trade Ginobili with the rights to Splitter
Tayshaun Prince and salary dump Jeffries

first off, the rockets already got a steal of a deal even without the draft picks.....jordan hill and kevin martin for basically carl landry??

even if the knicks get johnson/bosh it wont be enough
    look at Toronto now
    Calderone > Sergio
CHandler+Johnson is a little better than HEdo and Derozan
    Bosh
    random knick center < Bargnani

and the raptors are barely holding onto the 8th seed right now

Business schools around the country should study the colossal failures of the New York Knicks' FO. I am sure they are loving the T-Mac star power right now. ;)

New York Knicks never disappoint. They will continue to suck next year. LeBron is not going to want to be part of a bottom dweller team. The picks we got form them will be worth a lot.

When Scola was paired with Yao he still got his boards, even when Hill comes in he still gets his boards. Scola gets his boards no matter what.

I guess it's nice for Lee to be a hustle rebounder, but it would also be nice if Lee boxed his man out to get his boards also . Yes I am watching these games. Randolph has always been a good rebounder wherever he went also, thats never been the knock on him, it's always been he's blackhole on offense.

We'll see, but I feel Lee's overall game is highly overrated. It's nice to put up those numbers he does on the Knicks, but against better competition and real all-star caliber players he doesn't look so special anymore.

Even with Bosh and Joe Johnson, Knicks not going to be 7th seed or better, and if the rockets next year, doesnt make the playoffs or barely made it, they will have two picks in the top 15th, and Morey would great things with that.

I hope knicks go for joe johnson, because that means, they wont get #1 number pick, so their pick is ours. ;)

Personally, I see at least one of the two picks being lotto.

I don't believe New York will be able to reshape their roster like they would like.

"Id rather have JORDAN HILL at age 22 than [David] Lee"

"[Bosh is] a little better PF [than Al Horford]"

Stay off the hard stuff kids, they kill brain cells

Anyways, we clearly got the better deal because NY would have to pull the biggest turn around in NBA history since the Celtics two years ago in order to make the gamble on their lottery picks a success. Won't happen, the Knicks organization is a far cry from the Celtics.
