I didn't see anything horrible about it. He's under a microscope, because of his past. In 7th grade my football coach yelled at everyone for making too much noise in the locker room. The only problem was that he had just left the shower and had no clothes on. Everyone was looking at him like, "Hey... What happened to coach's clothes... He must have yelled them off" Kinda funny, but he wouldn't have got a smirk from me. That dude had issues.
No biggie for me. I don't care if it's coach Knight or any other coach. The guy is just trying to get his attention... geez! Not like he backhanded him for making a stupid pass. That was just his style and the players probably know it. When I used to play ball, my coach used to knee our groins and uppercut our faces if we miss a shot. Needless to say, we won the state championship.* *jk.. but that would've been pretty sweet if we did make it that far
I think everyone is missing the bigger picture here. This is Bobby Knight we're talking about. Aside from incidents like this, this guy would be a has been by now. Is he even a good coach anymore (good as in, better than other coaches at major programs)???
I've always liked Knight, but he struck that kids in the face. Coach Knight may have just had to kick my ass in that instance cuz there is no way to tell how I might react. I may do nothing like this kid or I may have jumped all over him. Doesn't matter though, he still struck the kid in the face, that is the bottom line.
Do any of those mentioned examples involve actually touching a student? Getting someones attention and actually physically touching a player or student are 2 different things. He didn't just pull his head up to look at him, he basically hit his chin to look up.
The kid and the kid's parents have said they agreed with what Coach Knight did. Coach said he has a confidence issue, and was putting his head down when Coach Knight asked him if he could do his job. He quickly lifted his head, and repeated the question. To me, that's motivation. If the kid and his parents BOTH AGREE with what Knight did, stop whining. This isn't newsworthy, just ESPN trying to stir up something because of who it was done by.
Gee, you think the women had more support because they brought Tech it's only national championship? Naah- it's because people in Lubbock naturally like the women's team better than the men. And I never claimed to have the "expert" opinion- only that your opinion does not necessarily represent the majority. But whatever- your status as a Tech alum holds more weight and means that you're right. Crystal.
