There is no way in hell the Big 12 would invite UH unless the Big 12 changes.

In my opinion, Texas would do much better joining the PAC 10 or the BIG 10.

    A$M should join the SEC.

I'd like to see Rice instead of Baylor. They would get steamrolled in football but could set up a nice rivalry in Baseball. Plus, being in a mjor conference would definetly help in basketball. Too bad the Rice Alumni don't give a rats ass.

Outside of Texas and Oklahoma, no one would give a crap, and that's the reason why the SWC broke up - TV money.

I read an Athlon article about the break up of the SWC. When the SWC TV deal expired, ABC decided not to renew it. The SWC now sucked and had regional appeal - Arkansas wisely jumped ship probably starting the domino effect.

UT inquired about the Pac 10 and A&M inquired about the SEC. The legislature did not want the flagship schools to separate - they were a pair. ABC approached the Big 8 about a championship game. It would require a 4 team expansion. UT and A&M were no brainers. Richards and Bullock were both Baylor grads. They pushed for Baylor - it made sense too since Baylor was private and the new conference could have its books shut. I can't recall why Tech was included - probably cause they had better programs then the remaining schools but it's safe to say no Baylor no Big 12 cause of Richards and Bullock.

why does having baylor/or a private school mean the books can be shut?

We should sell out our stadium every single game and win the conference a few years in a row before even thinking about skipping conferences

In 5 - 6 years the University of Houston will be in the SEC.
    Screw the Big 12.

Just getting a decent chunk of the local talent will assure us of being able to play with anybody, anytime.
And our school is soooo much better academically than it's given credit for.
You have certain fields right now where we are cutting edge/higher echelon.

For years there was a disconnect/rift between the AD and the Prez.Dealing with being a commuter school has made it m ore difficult too.

Well, enter Dave Maggard....This guy created the monster that has been Miami. You think he came here just for the challenge or the money?Houston is a seat of power in this world we live in.Politics, power, people behind the scenes......The ball was set in motion years ago. These things don't change overnight for it takes a long time to come back from where we've been.....SUBTLE BUT EFFFECTIVE...The Red and White will rise again.

Robertson will be full for awhile, then will come a new stadium.......Look at the recruiting, bigtime improvement in the lines....UH Hoops is finally starting to get quality frontcourt help.Redshirts and walk ons are going bye bye.

And for people that might be too young, not remember,or be misinformed...a reminder. In the late seventies we ruled the SWC and not just in football/ PSJ.

You lnow so much in life is cyclical...things happen, but you can't keep us down forever...We've been on our way back....and the goal sure as heck isn't to play in the Big 12.

This was actually Matress Mac's fault. His (now defunct?) promotions company masterminded the game, which was supposed to include an Eagles concert. Well, the Eagles balked and Mac ended up bailing to sell matresses after the heavy flooding. UH was left holding the bag.

It's a good laugh now..but I am not sure you are gonna be laughing last. Houston can be a front running sports town, and when most Houstonians think College Football we think Texas or A&M. But when UH starts to win...especially if the Texans continue to build....there will be football fans who can't get Texans tickets. UH put a pretty attractive product out there last year. Lot of schools in a bigger conference would love to play in the largest city in the South for recruitment purposes. Football is king in Texas, if we can be good enough long enough something like a move to a major conference is plausible.

Why would any league with 12 members already invite more members in?

Yeah...Houston kind of has a little penis envy about Texas.

Just like your UT boys do for programs that have won more than one football championship since the 60's...betcha we are on your level before you are on their level.

UH will never see the big 12.

But we'll get into a BCS conference soon enough.

and to the UT/A&M kids laughing it up, get your yuks in, cause the moment UH gets in a BCS conference.. its going to suck ass for yall..
