SWT has a D-1 football team, though. Div 1 comprises both 1-A (~110 schools or so) plus the 1-AA teams (300 or so schools). All the teams in the NCAA basketball tourney, for example, are division I.
Tulsa is smaller than Rice. http://conferenceusa.collegesports.com/schools/tuls/c-usa-tuls-body.html http://conferenceusa.collegesports.com/schools/rice/c-usa-rice-body.html While Tulsa is no Rice in admissions standards, Tulsa is proof a small school can have a successful program with a good head coach. By virtue of its location, Rice has an advantage. Hatfield though is a Hasbeen.
Bowling would be nice, but at 6-5 and 4-4 in conference, we may be odd man out...Don't know for sure though... Rice, wow, what a year...I think KH will out out of here, but that's just my opinion...
Ah. However, I'm still almost positive there are D-I basketball programs that do not have D-I football programs.
...it explains my knowledge of the finer things in life, despite the fact that my time there was spent drinking Kronenborg 1667 and cheap red wine due to extreme poverty. I should have flipped some cars over actually.
Nay. The Ivy League schools are I-AA for football. An example would be Georgetown, who plays D-III football, last time I checked.
Sam, let's be honest. You're a grown azz man who uses a video game character's name as your identity on an online message board on which you have over 10,000 posts and average over 11 per day. Please define your knowledge of "the finer things in life". The finer things in life do not include engaging conservatives in a multiple-page debate on how the democrats will win the "cell phone" vote in the presidential election.
Hell, we are the vandals in the Third Ward. At least those of us who lived on campus with no car. (Bauer College of Bidness, '02)
Me and a bunch of my cougar friends are gonna go mug people and break stuff on the Rice campus tomorrow, you in? Usual time, usual place. College; full of tradition.
I'm a Cougar fan, but I would like to see Rice improve. Even with limited support, among faculty alumni and the student body...I would think they could manage 6-5 in CUSA, and CUSA isn't going to fill all its alotted bowl slots every year so they might get a chance to go bowling. If the Cougars can get back to being a top 25 program, you'd think Rice could recruit some Houston based players with good academics who aren't quite athletic enough to get PT at Texas or A&M or start for the Coogs.
Outstanding. Time to get some excitement back to the football program. There is absolutely no excitement today. Todd Dodge? Duane Akina? RC? Mike Singletary? Any of those would be great choices in my opinion.
texxx my average has dropped preciptiously (down from 15 in June) during my recent sabbatical. Although lately, I am stationary for the near term with little to do in between classes, and may in fact post more often. Regardless, i will pit my knowledge of la dolce vita against yours anyday. if you wish to take this tussle off line, hit me up on my mobile.
