It's almost as if Fat Randy and Fat Predator sucked the life essence out of Kubiak's coaching career and are now using it to kick ass.
To re-sign players or sign free agents to cap friendly deals, to advise to cut players who have cap-unfriendly deals (provided you have adequate replacements), and to negotiate re-structuring/deferred money deals that can help the team acquire free agents in years they are "going for it." Rick Smith's primary job has never been scouting, talent assessment, and making the final decisions on who to draft.
Must agree with you. I also feel that having Brandon Brooks back at RG is helping Newton out a lot. Early in the pre-season he was still looking iffy, but with big ass Brooks back he's looking more comfortable. I just hope he doesn't regress. Pleasantly surprised that Ben Jones has looking so good at LG yesterday too. Up until he got hurt he was owning the Ninja.
It was interesting to hear BO'B comment on Monday that they feel they could plug Newton in at LT if the need arrived and Clabo would go in at RT. They must really like Newton.
Damn, that gif on Newton was awesome. He's stepping it up. What a huge addition to the team if he can continue at a consistently high level. That saves us from taking a high pick on RT next year. Still need OL depth, but it would be nice to address other positions first.

Crazy thing about Newton is that he has had to block Orakpo, Sio Moore, some JPP, and Mario Williams.
I hate to be wrong, but I am, since I wanted Newton out. He's been more than good or decent... he's been GREAT! EDIT: Good stuff, Sydeffect
This should serve as a warning for those who are bashing XSF already, that they shouldn't freak out about a player till they've had some time in the league. Who would have thought that Derek Newton would be our best O line player a year ago?
I certainly didn't. All I saw last year was pure **** out of him. This year, he's a completely different animal. He is being coached right and it clearly shows.
This should serve as a warning to anyone bashing any young player with minimal experience(coughNixcough). It baffles me how many people on here write players off before they even get their feet wet
Didn't he have surgery some time prior to that too? He may have been out of condition and still had lingering pain as well. Anyway, the difference is truly astounding. Kudos to DN.
Brown was assigned to JPP and Paul ate his freaking lunch. I think Brown is either hurt or too light. He lost a lot of weight last off season and opposing d linemen and some linebackers have been able to move him easier then they have in the past. He needs to put on about ten pounds or we need to see Newton take left tackle and XSF take over right
