I have watched every single Fedor fight. I used to fight in tournaments myself.Texas vs Louisiana most note-worthy. Can;t find the video of my fight, but here is one of my friends. O Yeah, you know we can whoop arse in Louisiana!! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bj68XIQbdVI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bj68XIQbdVI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
OOOOO and about your lidell comparsion is weak. See Tim Sylvia. Couture absolutely dominated the much larger Sylvia.
I'm not putting my money on Couture because Lesnar is just an animal, but I don't expect him to lose. Should be a very entertaining fight though. I can't wait for Couture/Fedor.
couture has lost 2 times to lidell. god i really wish we could just see fedor and couture fight so can stop debating this.
I want Randy to win not only because of the person he is , also for the reason of Brocks last fight after he won he started acting like a cocky mofo and acting like he was in the WWE again. Kick his a$$ Randy! Hey Louisianarocket, what part of LA are you in?
UFC is all about buyrates, UFC.com memberships, T-shirts, and DVD sales. Brock acting like an ass and all the trash talk they do before fights is all apart of the game. It is about making money. Brock gets that. If this was about serious competition, would Brock be getting a spot into this faux "Heavyweight Tournament" in his 3rd fight? From everything I have read is that UFC expects Affliction to be out of business by Christmas so them having a Randy/Fedor match would be on a UFC PPV regardless of the winner of Brock/Randy.
I could see this fight being pretty boring, as I think any of Lesnar's fights will go that way. He is just too big and strong for anybody to really take him down. It'll go down like this...They stand up and try to swing at eachother for about 20 seconds then Lesnar goes and tackles down Randy and just lays on top of him for the whole round and gets a few punches in. Repeat that for four more rounds and Lesnar wins the descision. Unless Randy can get him into some type of submission, it'll be a slow fight. No doubt I'll still watch it
Hehe, I can see that happening. Brock rocked that dude with that 1st punch in the last match, but it was pretty boring after that. At times it looked like Brock was pretty close to getting into trouble, but he was just too big for Herring to really hut him in any way.
dude. I live in houston too but am originally from Lake Charles. Do you know Greg Norsworthy? He is my uncle.
I know this , I have been watching UFC for years religiously but Brock seemed to take it to another level of cornyness. But I know he's doing it to make himself some bigger paydays and I understand that.
I'm with you DaDream on this one. There is a lot of trash talk before matches, but after fights most fighters are gracious winners. I've seen a few fights and I can't remember too many fighters act like C**k Lesnar. I figured he picked it up from WWE, but man did it make me dislike him. I'm hoping Randy goes to town on this fool and kills the hype.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Couture with UFC and Fedor with Affliction? Wouldn't that make it almost impossible for these guys to fight unless one leaves and joins the other?
I think this is a good matchup for Lesnar. Couture is old, quasi-retired and not on top of his game, and will need to rely on Lesnar's strength -- wrestling -- to win. The one caveat is that we really haven't seen Lesnar's stand-up game yet. Couture could exploit that as a weakness.
Dana has stated many times, and as recently as yesterday during the press conference, that there was a lot of bad blood between Herring and Lesnar's camp. Leading up to the fight, Herring was complaining about having to fight a rookie and thought he deserved a bigger name opponent. Before the walk to the cage for the fight, Herring's camp was shouting insults in Lesnar's direction. So he was very much justified in the way he acted after dominating Herring, because Heath showed him absolutely no respect prior to the fight. The only way the Fedor/Couture fight is going to happen is if Affliction goes out of business. Tom Atencio (president of Affliction) has already said that he's nearing completion on a 3 year exclusive deal with Fedor, which means Randy will long be retired by the point Fedor is free. Of course, if Affliction stops promoting fights, then Fedor's contract is voided and he can go where he chooses. If Fedor truly cared about his legacy, then he would go to the UFC. Fedor is the greatest heavyweight in history and one of the best fighters ever, but it seems like he doesn't want to fight Randy nearly as much as Randy wants to fight him. Zuffa offered him a 2 million signing bonus plus 1.5 million per fight early this year, which would make him the highest paid fighter in the company, but Fedor turned it down. Dana would love to have Fedor, but he's going to do it on his terms. The truth of the matter is that Fedor isn't known to 90% of the UFC audience. The only game they know is UFC. The have the PRIDE footage available and could definitely hype up a fight between Randy and Fedor, but at this point Fedor is not a PPV draw. Lesnar is far more well-known than Fedor and he's the biggest mainstream draw in the division and one of the top draws in the entire company. Despite what hardcore fans may believe, the Randy vs. Brock fight is the biggest fight in the world right now. It might not be the best or the most ideal in terms of rankings, but this fight will shatter all MMA PPV buyrate records. And in the end, that's what UFC is all about -- making fights people want to see, despite rankings or history. All that being said, I think Lesnar will beat Randy. Randy has never submitted anyone on his back, and that's where he's going to be for the majority of the fight. The only guys I see giving Lesnar much trouble are top-level BJJ players like Gonzaga, Werdum, and Noguiera. Even Mir, to a lesser extent, and we already know he can beat Brock if he catches him in a rookie mistake. I don't think Lesnar can beat Noguiera right now, but two years down the road, the guy is going to be damn near unstoppable. And if Fedor does end up in the UFC, he'll beat Randy and then you have a natural rivalry for another main event with Fedor vs. Lesnar. Right now, Fedor would school him, but in a few years and with more training, Lesnar could definitely beat Fedor.
i'm pretty sure a lot more than 10% of UFC fans know Fedor. and fwiw lesnar could never touch fedor. fedor has beaten bigger and better strikers than lesnar. semmy schilt?
Semmy Schilt was a one hit wonder tho. sure the man was huge, but he had no ground game, and it wasn't Fedor that brought that to peoples attention, he was already figured out and had lost 2 fights before fighting Fedor. I don't think those 2 losses were in Pride tho. The only legit fighter Fedor has really faced was Tim Sylvia. I have nothing but respect for Fedor and he is one of my favorite fighters, but he clearly has not fought top comp. throughout his career.
Randy's ground game is greater than Fedor? You are kidding right? You can argue his clinch/wrestling/takedowns are better but not his ground. How do you know he wont get dropped? He's been dropped before, look at his fights with chuck. Anyway, if the fedor vs randy fight ever happen i'll def put my money on Fedor although you can never count Randy out of any fight even though he's 45!
I don't mean to be on you but you can't say Timmy was his only legit fight. He may not have fought the top fighters like Tim but he has fought some good heavies - Big Nog (current UFC champion), Mark Hunt, Crocop, Heath, Linland (not a heavyweight), etc. Lets not forget his cyborg-like performance against Randleman!
