Jones refused Sonnen as a replacement.

Dana White said this is the first time they've ever had to cancel a whole event

Jones will now face Machida again at UFC 152 in Toronto Sept 22

I first heard "Mean streets of West Linn, OR " on a show on Fuel TV last night and couldn't stop laughing.

It's funny because if anybody has ever been to or truly knows about West Linn... It's one of the yuppiest/lowest crime areas in all of Oregon.

Anyways, I can't believe Jones is ducking Chael. I hated Jones before and this is another reason to hate him even more. I was looking forward to seeing Hendo land the H-Bomb flush.

Does Bones not realize that Chael would be coming into the this fight WITHOUT a training camp while also moving a weight class?

    **** Jon Jones.

So in the UFC you can get a title shot by having a good mic presence even coming off a loss? What is this the WWE?

I gradually cared less and less about MMA as the past year has gone on (too many cards) and this just proves my point why. You put on too many damn cards with a bunch of fighters no one gives a rats ass about and this is what happens when you lose a main event.

Cancel the card, pay the undercard guys since they need the money, and stop blaming everyone else Dana White. You keep making these garbage ass cards and people (like me) stop buying them.

Less risk and more reward for Jones.

I think the fight would have sold better with Chael on the card and Jones would have a much easier time with Chael. Chael is a lesser version of Dan Henderson who would be coming in on no camp. Jones would have made more PPV money and he would have kept the 151 card going.

    ****ty decision from Greg Jackson.

It still screws the fans who bought plane tickets to see this event. Yeah Chael is coming off a loss to the greatest fighter ever, but he is the only viable opponent since Lyoto said he wasn't ready. Jones would absolutely destroy Chael too. It wouldn't be close. He might actually die lol.

But to your other point I do agree that if the undercard wasn't as crappy as it is then you could still justify putting this event on....but it's a bad undercard.

nothing to do with good mic, It was a panic situation and Sonnen stepped up. At that point it wasn't about deserving or not but who's the best option who is willing to take the fight on a 8 day notice. Plus Chael Sonnen has been the number 1 contender in the MW division for like 2 years, it's not like he's some scrub.

Good interview. Wether he deserved the title shot or not (I don't think he did) I have to give Chael props for stepping up to fight the champ on 8 days notice. And he's right, most of those days would be filled with media obligations.

UFC needs more fighters like Sonnen and Weidman who will accept any fight on any notice and less fighters like Jones and Anderson Silva who want to pick and choose

Is it true Chael's the highest paid fighter in the UFC? He also said something in that ESPN interview that Jones' missed his chance to "slip one past the greatest icon this sport has ever seen."

I think Chael sticking to his gameplan can win the belt, but I've never considered him that much higher than maybe a gatekeeper at the 2nd level.

all the other big names are contracted to fight in upcoming events besides Machida who is probably still on mandatory medical suspension following the last recent event. this whole hinged on the main event. chael would've been way disadvantaged..

i hate greg jackson with a passion.
