Lol.....that's a funny lookalike, but no, Herb Dean is not Cutty from The Wire.

That was the worst fight of the night. I agree with an earlier poster; Matt Serra took GSP's balls when he TKO'd him in Houston back in 2007.

I think GSP was probably just protecting himself from being taken down or playing it safe since he basically only had one eye. The fact that Shields couldn't capitalize on that is odd. I was hoping this would be a ground battle and see who would come out on top, but I guess GSP didn't want to take any chances.

GSP has gotten to be a pretty boring fighter. It's pretty much once he is up on the cards he will just be content with a draw.

They were both disappointing, why the hell was Shields not going for take downs and jabfesting with GSP, was he expecting to win or something?

GSP is just done, he doesn't care anymore, I was a huge fan, I'm tired of defending him, he doesn't want to finish, he will put in the least amount of effort to win a decision.

Just watched the post fight presser. Shields said he just couldn't get the takedown and made the mistake of trying to box GSP.

The fight was pretty close I'd say, probably mostly due to GSP having the eye issue and thinking about it too much. The fight was a disappointing but guess they can't all be great.

There seemed to be quite a bit of steam picking up for a GSP vs Nick Diaz fight. Several questions asked about it and even Dana didn't shoot it down. Shields actually said he'd even like to see it. I think GSP would have to be much better to beat Diaz. I doubt St Pierre could out box Diaz and everyone knows how good his ground game is, very tricky fight.

For everyone wanting Silva vs GSP, I'm torn, just not sure GSP can have much success in that fight, unless he uses his wrestling and punishes Silva from top.

Gonna be interesting to see where Rush goes from here.

Shields probably was trying to promote it since he and Diaz are in the same camp. Or at least were - they were both under Cesar Gracie at one point and may still be. I can't stand Diaz. Diaz has said already he thinks he could beat GSP and Anderson Silva, but a lot of fighters say that... :)

I think Diaz is a douchebag and one of the more annoying dickheads in sports, but I gotta give him credit for consistently outstriking and outperforming his opponnents and doing it an entertaining fashion.

I'd love to see Diaz versus St Pierre and am less than excited by a potential GSP vs Silva match ( I dont think GSP wants it either). IMO Silva should move up to 205lbs as that division present much more exciting and competitive matchups ie... Jones, Jackson, Machida, Shogun, Davis, Evans, etc.

As for Diaz vs GSP, it would be a great match standing and Diaz would have a real shot at winning. However if GSP does his usual takedown gnp rinse & repeat strat, then no.

I want someone that can actually bring the fight to him and doesn't give a fruck about what happens to fight GSP. If the opponent is tentative, GSP becomes more tentative which leads to the snoozefest of yesterday.

But then again Diaz's wrestling is so horrible that GSP would just take him down at all and lay on him for 5 round for a UD. I just hope someone can knock GSP the F out and bring back the old GSP.

The potential Silva vs GSP superfight will have a couple of outcomes and some will be extremely boring.

    1. Silva and GSP literally circles and feel each other out for 4 rounds without throwing anything. Silva actually does this a lot because he is a counter puncher, and GSP is not going to throw the first punch that's for sure.

    2. GSP takes Silva down and lays on him.

    3. Silva is quick enough to avoid the takedowns and totally outclass GSP on the feet.

I was very disappointed with GSP's performance. He's my favorite fighter so I'm extra critical of him. All he cares about is keeping his belt, legacy, endorsements and sponsors. All those things are great but the reason why he was able to receive all those things and build a huge fan base and become UFC's "golden boy" was because he was an exciting fighter and took chances. He hasn't had an exciting fight since like 5 fights ago against BJ Penn.

Yesterday was probably GSP's worst performance ever. If Jake Shields had any kind of standing game with decent KO power he would've finished GSP.

The thing that I'm most annoyed with is GSP kept throwing that stupid overhand haymaker. Who the hell told him to throw those? I've never seen him do that. Ever. He looked like a total amateur throwing that and it wasn't just once or twice. He did it about 20 times and he either missed completely or did very little damage. The only people I see throwing wild punches like that is Josh Koscheck or drunk r****ds who had too much to drink at the local pub.

GSP wants no part of Anderson Silva and I don't blame him. He would get absolutely destroyed. I think a fight between Nick Diaz is bound to happen sooner rather than later.

Number 3 is probably the correct answer but I wouldn't want to see this fight because there's a chance it could be 1 or 2 and it'd be another potential super fight disappointment. Silva is the best striker in the UFC bar none in terms of accuracy and KO power. GSP can't even finish guys in his own weight class anymore and 75% of Silva's wins are by KO/submission. I have a small hunch that GSP would increase that percentage if he had the balls to fight Silva.

DOD, Shields and Diaz are still in the same camp and friends as well. I'm with you, I can't stand Diaz.

Stylistically Diaz actually may be a nightmare matchup for GSP, very good boxing and great BJJ. Something tells me this fight happens before a Rush vs Silva matchup.

Asian Sensation, I was disappointed in GSP's performance as well. Two things, one the eye was clearly a problem and two, GSP was absolutely avoiding anything on the ground except for the final seconds of a round.

St. Pierre is a smart yet safe fighter, I wouldn't say boring. I also disagree that the Penn fight was the last exciting fight but understand what you're saying.

Like I said things are about to get interesting in the career of St. Pierre. I believe he's going to have some very tough fights coming his way, whether it's at 170 or 185, time to make some decisions.

Not the one that did damage, but, apparently Shields likes to punch with his thumb sticking out.

Sad to see the end of Randy Couture's career, but the highlight knockout by Machida was epic.

The Shields/GSP fight was miserable. I just can't believe how bad that was. I'm a little surprised that his eye was so too bad to see "allegedly" but no doctor ever checked it. I guess they couldn't risk a medical stoppage loss for the golden boy. It was also disappointing that Rogan and Goldberg continued to say GSP was outclassing Shields on the feet when fightmetrics showed Shields landing more shots than GSP. Anyway, hope to never see a rematch. I won't pay to watch the next GSP fight unless it's against Silva or Diaz.

Aldo was obviously not 100%, but boy can he mess dudes up. Between Hominick's head (lol!) and Faber's leg, Aldo has dealt some of the nastiest damage over the past year or so in MMA.
