I personally am rooting for Sonnen as I am completely tired of Silva and his antics.

That said, I think Silva will destroy him.

Silva's antics have been pretty ridiculous but how are you not tired of Sonnen's out of ring antics?? The guy talks non stop trash

His last fight was plenty boring. He decisioned a BJJ specialist and danced around most of the fight. Same story versus Leites. Sonnen isn't going to try and stand up against Silva like Griffin or Irvin. He's going to take it to the ground and will probably be submitted by a choke hold of some sort.

I don't mind trash talking personally. Plus, how can I be all that tired of it when he hasn't had much time on the big stage to do it?

Additionally, I don't like Silva as a MW because I think he has significant advantages that are inherent to his size. I'd prefer to see him fighting at LHW.

    MMA Junkie link

He gassed in the 3rd round vs Maia after dancing around. He got out struck in the 5th by a BJJ specialist. His last performance was so bad Dana White said he would make it up to the fans by giving a free UFC card on Spike. That card will more than likely be a MW title fight between Belfort and the winner of Silva vs Sonnen. He's so boring that his next title fight if he wins vs Sonnen will be free on Spike.

He beats up average strikers and you think he's the best striker in the world. Still no reply to Carnage, Spong, or any of the best K-1 fighters being better than him either.

You're missing the point entirely. He asked for better strikers. I gave him some. An elite boxer is going to be a better boxer than an elite MMA striker. An elite MT striker is going to be a better striker than an elite MMA striker. Same for elite kick boxers.

People j*zz over Silva's stand up because he beats up average strikers who are slow compared to the elite in other striking divisions. Did you see Griffin try to take Silva down? It was a kick boxing match under MMA rules.

Silva had better make up for that debacle @ UFC 112.

No it was not entertaining. He literally danced around for 3 and a half rounds.

That being said, Silva is still hands down the P4P greatest. (I like GSP, but no way could GSP is better then Silva)

Sonnen is underrated, he just took out two potential contenders (Marquardt and Okami, and rumar has it that Okami could be next in line for Silva)

He is an ELITE wrestler, both Marquardt and Okami have great take down defense, and Sonnen took them both down at will.

He's also an ELITE trash talker, haha. He's seriously a real life troll.

He's a very good striker but he's not the best striker in the world. That's all I'm trying to say. Skip to 8:55 and watch his face turn into a bobble head.

Rich Franklin in his prime was not an average striker and he decimated him twice, Dan Henderson was no slouch striker either. I dont understand how just because Anderson doesn't compete in K-1 makes him automatically worse than those people you named? What exactly makes these people better strikers besides your own opinion? Silva is regarded throughout the MMA ranks as one of the top strikers, not just by us average joes, meaning you just s**t on 98% of the rest of the UFC roster in terms of their striking abilities

Your original comment in this thread was an attempt to not only belittle Silva but also MMA and the UFC in general by saying its not as elite as the leagues that feature only 1 fighting style. MMA is viewed as the upper echelon of fighting because you must take into account all fighting styles, thats why all the best fighters in the world compete in MMA, why would someone at the top of the best MMA company in UFC go down a notch and compete in K-1...it's usually the other way around. It would be like Kobe Bryant saying, I'm not going to play in the NBA anymore just in the 3 point contest and the skills competition, or Albery Pujols saying he won't play in games just in the homerun derby.

And its pretty funny you added that video of a guy fighting Anderson's trainer as if his trainer is suppose to be superior in competing than Silva himself...

Sorry but nope. K-1 fighters get paid much much better than UFC fighters. Again the best athletes will go to where the most money is.

There's no point. Griffin, Irvin, Cote, Henderson, Maia, Franklin, Leben, Lutter & Marquardt aren't elite strikers. Again Silva is a very good striker but he's not the most dangerous striker in the world.

Silva is the best FIGHTER in the world, what would your "great" k1 fighters do once silva clinched them, once it went to the ground. i doubt k1 guys make more than brock lesnar does...

to the poster who brought up the free card it is a garbage card in the uk. bisping vs the guy that just lost to leben at the last ppv is the main event.

anyways sonnen is going to get raped for all smack talk he has been doing as of late. people get all huffy and puffy when silva doesnt go for the kill, he is like a lion who likes to play with his prey. silva has finished 8 of his 10 fights. give him real competition and he makes them look silly. maia was not even in his league. i hope he moves to lhw for some big name fights, he has nothing to prove at mw.

war big country, jds is no joke...very interesting fight im going with big country via stoppage due to crucifix

They would have a field day if he tried to clinch with them standing. Think of the last time he tried to wrestle someone down and submit them. The only times he's ever fought anyone on the ground was if he clocked someone hard enough for them to crumble or if they happened to take him down. Against superior strikers he probably wouldn't hit hard enough for them to drop so he'd have to stand up vs them and be at a disadvantage.
