Your predictions have not been very good. No doubt that Messi is a fantastic player. But whether it was because of injury or whatever, he couldn't get it done last season in the Champions League. And when you can't get it done, you should not be in the top 3 voting for player of the year. Period.

This is player of the year not team of the year nor player of the week, and of course Messi should be on the short list to win it. You do realize the incredible season he had!? One bad week, injury or no injury, can't and will not erase his great performance last season. Don't worry though as I'm certain Bayern will win best team come December.
It's an absolute joke. Messi wins it even when undeserving. I remember back when Sneijder should have won it hands down but no the tax fraud won it.
wasn't messi 60-70% tops during those CL games against munich? he didn't start the 2nd game either. a hurt hamstring would definitely not have allowed him to play like we're accustomed to seeing him play, not that barca would have won either way. barcelona are on downhill trend since winning against man U at wembley and bayern definitely deserved winning CL glory, but messi as an individual is about as good as it'll ever get in soccer
They won because they had the better collective. They had their numbers. I think Messi is still better than Ribery in terms of individual talent
This award is about who had the better year. If you want to make it a "who is most talented award", might as well not vote and just give it to Messi every year by default.
It's also not a "who was the best player on the best team" award either. Messi set several long standing individual records and was clearly the most dominant player in the world.
