Jeez, I'm a Holland fan but too bad Germany is out.

I couldn't believe Germany lost, especially once they took the lead, I thought it was over.

Tough luck SJC, I wish it could be both Holland and Germany. (Insert me taking a shot at you here ;) ).

But on the bright side, just as I predicetd, Holland are improving with every match. They are really developing their identity on the fly (unfortunately).

Holland plays Sweden right? Good matchup.

    My picks:

    - Portugal takes England out on penalties.

    - France demolishes Greece 3-0.

    Voeller stepped down.

Hitzfeld will take us to the World Cup Title in 2006.

Remember, you read it here first, predicted by the man whose predictions are always right ;).

i have been on a trip for my university so o coudn't post for 2 weeks. i have to say that holland was lucky. They were much better in the second match, the ref was very bad that game. Heitinga didn't even touch Nedved. And van nistelrooy should have gotten a penalty in the first half. But Advocaat made some HUGE mistakes. luckaly we didn't have to pay to much for them. Why in the world did he take Robben out of the game and why did he p[lay Bosvelt. And one of the most importend mistake he makes is t play Van der Meyde. He should play overmars at the right side and robben at the left. We were lucky. lets hope we stay that way.

The only teams i tought played good were england and sweden. al the opther teams were not impressive.

I'm glad The germans and the italians are out of the tournament.

Robben played great he is a great player. he will be very special.

have fun for the rest of the tournament

Unbelievable game. Really, unbelievable. This match did not deserve a loser.

Beckham is more and more becoming a tragic figure in the history of football.

I actually feel sorry for England. Did you see Darius Vassell crying after the game - horrible. Poor guy, this will haunt him for the rest of his life...

    Plus, I can't stand Scolari.

I want the Czechs to win it all.

He missed the first penalty in the penalty shoot-out...BADLY. I don't think I have seen a penalty that went so far above the goal ever...

    Anyway, nothing can beat football.

    SOCCER IS LIFE

    Beckham missed a PK?

Oh man......what was the final tally on PKs?

Did it go down to the 5th and final one?

    DD

PS. I HATE penalty kicks, let em play until someone wins the match.

It went to the seventh kick. 6-5 was the final score.

I felt that Portugal deserved to win, on balance.

    In response:

It was a tense game. England were way too defensive, too early, and couldn't keep possession.

Beckham is tragic, and often goes missing in big games. Now, finally, the world is starting to notice.

It always sucks to lose on pens, and to be a player that misses one, but don't feel too sorry for Vassell. He must have incriminating pictures of Eriksson to even be in the squad. He is lucky to be there...

    I also can't stand Scolari.

I also would like to see the Czechs win. They've been the best side so far.

I heard that a goal was dissallowed late in the game for England.

My friend told me that all angles confirmed that the keeper was not touched and that the goal should have counted.

I didn't see it, and my friend is very biased, did anyone else see it?

It was clearly right to disallow the goal, anyone who is not biased will confirm it. The goalie was dragged and held down, one would have to be blind not to see it. The referee did an excellent job the whole game.

P.S.: It was not the player that scored the goal that fouled the keeper in the 5m zone (what is the term for that in English?), but another player, but that is irrelevant - the goalie was clearly stopped from getting up to the ball, and that's what counts.

As I said my friend is biased....which is why I asked.

Also, he said that just before the last PK that won it, the US coverage cut away.....that is terrible.
