I think Germany was the better team in the game against Holland, though...let's wait and see what happens.

Agree with you about Advocaat, if I was Dutch, I would be furious.

It's a pity that the referees in both matches yesterday made bad calls that greatly affected the matches. In the first game, Latvia was denied one definite penalty, as well as another that they had a strong argument for. In the second, I thought the sending off of Heitinga was pretty harsh.

    RocketFan007, I agree.

Greece and Portugal through to the next round.

As always in big tournaments, Spain fails.

The decision not to start Valeron in this tournament has proven costly for Spain.

Raul cannot pass that well and had a rough season and a rough tournament ...while valeron had a great season and a pretty good tournament in limited appearances.

ugh...what a waste of talents ...Vicente, Alonso, Puyol, Morientes, Valeron

Very right. The first one was a clear penalty that anyone could have seen. The second one could have been called either way, but it really did effect the games a lot.

Man what a dissapointment. I watched the Holland Czech game last night as I could not watch it live. What a great game, definetly a classic. Man, those were some great shots by Nedved and Seedorf. THe Ref was horrible, no way a second yellow shouls have been given and what about that defender rapping his arms and tackling V Nistlerooy and no penalty awarded. All in all the Czechs were very impressive, Nedvet showed why he was Euro player of the year in 2003. Hope the Dutch can spank Latvia and Germany lose or draw again the Czechs. Peace.

England and France are through. Rooney with 2 more goals, giving him 4 in the last two matches, and remember, he's only 18.

    Quarterfinal Matches:

    England-Portugal
    France-Greece

That England-Portugal quarterfinal should be a great match. Unfortunately, the other match doesn't look as promising as my Greeks will likely go down easily to the French. I'll be happy if they just keep it close and respectable, although I guess I should be happy anyway, given that they even made it this far. :)

the france-croatia match was pretty entertaining, though some costly mistakes by tudor, practically gave france ther 2 goals. zidane is the man, however. that behind-the-back flick he gave after the corner was absolutely stunning.

    England 4 Croatia 2

Wayne Rooney looks more and more like a superstar in the making.

Exactly what happened. Italy won, but because Denmark and Sweden played 2-2, Italy is out. The Italian conspiracy theorists will be out in full force, but Denmark and Sweden both gave it their best, I do not believe there was any collusion.

I don't think that anyone could have sat down and watched that match and thought it was staged. Both teams played good football, and Sweden just happened to get that late goal.

Yep, and respect to Trappatoni, who is a class act and always has been, for saying that both Denmark and Sweden gave it their all and that everything was proper and fair.

    :(

My only consolation is that we did the same crap in the Euro 1984 and 2000 and made it to the World Cup Finals both times afterwards.

Well, good luck with that consolation. Germany looked poor.

Does anyone know a bar on the NW side (Hwy 6, preferably) showing matches? I must see England, but I have to get to work right after the match. :(
