Stra that comment about the penaltys was below the belt:( :p
about seedorf i can be very short, i do not like him i never liked him, he has always been a problem, he was send away the last big tournament he played under Advocaat. i think he is one of the most overrated players in holland. i think he does not have the right mind to be a winner. i hope van der vaart does.

in 1990 germany won of holland in a big tournament. but after that game we only played each other one time and then Holland destroyed germany (1996). so i'm not to sure when holland got beaten by germany altough holland had the better team. But you do have a point that germany do turn it up a nod, because they win of alot of teames altough the other team was better. it is strange that germany always play good in cups eventough they do not have good teams.

Holland do turn it up a notch in big tournaments. the only problem with holland is that sometimes they sometimes think they do not need to play hard (like against ireland in 2002). holland is arrogant, but they do turn it up a notch in tournaments. offcourse the fact that holland cannot win a penalty serie makes it more difficult to win it all.
i hope holland wins it all (offcourse) but if they do not win it all i do not want england italy or germany to win it all.

Germany won the title in 1996, though. I don't remember how far Holland went... :)

Germany didn't do well today did they? ;)

It seems like lots of teams are unprepared for thsi tournament. It will be very interesting.

Portugal and England scrapped their plands, Germany and Holland with their poor performances. Spain may be able to snatch seeing as they've been performing very well.

What matters is how they do when the tournament actually starts. These test games are rather meaningless.

Yeah, actually I think that teams who perform poorly are probably going to be betetr since theyll have worked out all the kinks.

ehhhh. i was afraid you were gonna point that out:(
i also made a mistake i meant holland destroyed germany in 1992 when we were beaten by denmark in the semi (yes after a penalty serie:( ) that was a group match. SJC is the game holland germany also in germany such a big deal??? in holland it is a very importend game.
i also think these friendlys do not mean anything, the only thing that counts is the tournament. alot of good players do not play as hard as they can.

Yes, it is a big game, but we are not very nervous about it...it seems like it is a little bit of a bigger deal in Holland. I would think that our games against Holland and England are the "biggest rivalries" we have, though.

First match goes to the Greeks, 2-1. What a poor showing by Portugal, although Greece was great defensively all game. Portugal will now likely have to beat Spain and Russia just to advance.

    woohoo :D Greece 2 - Portugal 1
    Hellas!!! Hellas!!!

Wow, I couldn't be more pleased with the showing today by the Greek team. They have been underestimated throughout qualification and they continue to prove everyone wrong. Portugal truly played uninspired ball for some reason and they seemed very tentative - perhaps the weight of a nation's hopes were too much for them psychologically.

Unfortunately here in D.C. all the bars are charging $20 covers to watch the games!!

Good game for Greece. Very dissapointing for Portugal.

Although I'm a Brazil fan, I'm not a big fan of Scolari. I feel he's not in the same league as other big coaches and his methods are a bit simplistic for Euro soccer.

Can't wait for the 2 games tomorrow.

SJC, what's up with Germany wanting to play with one striker? ;) Scared??

Haha, just kidding. Seriously though, one striker will have a LOT of trouble scoring on Stam's defence. If Van Der Vaart plays well, I think Holland can take this one. Germany haven't been too confident recently.

Spain took the second game 1-0 over Russia, I really like Spain's chances. Can't wait for England-France tomorrow.

Spain will not win anything, they never do.

Sane, I think you know as much about football as about basketball and politics :).
