French played like ****... definitely the 4-4-2 with 2 defensive midfielder formation didnt work all that well in this tourney.... Zidane should have been back in his usual central midfielder role...probably they should have adopted the 4-2-3-1 formation...or 4-4-2 with one DM (Vieira/Makalele)...and Trez didnt deserve that starting nod....SAHA should have started.

    Teams still in:

    Portugal
    Greece
    Holland
    Sweden
    Czech
    Denmark

Damn Greece is trough. i was so happy. Germany Italy and franch al out of the championship, its like a dream come true.
I have to say neither of those team played good this tournament. It is funny to see that the big team al lose to lesser teams. it is al about hard work. the big teams think they can win without playing there hearts out. The lesser teams play like theyre life depends on it. So they win. lets hope holland wil play with heart.

The england goal was rightfully disallowed. you cannot touch the goaly in the 6 yard box. t is a rule. and they did alot more then just touching him.

    Holland through to the semi!

Holland - Sweden 0-0 (p-5-4) ...Holland advance after Robben clinch the gut-wrenching penalty shootout. The game itself was pretty ordinary in the 1st and 2nd half with Holland got more control of the game. RVN and Robben was constant threats in the game. The extra time, however was a different issue. Ljungberg and Larsson hit the crossbar twice to rescue Holland from going behind a goal. While Isaksson almost made a huge mistake allowing Robben's shot going into the goal.

Zlatan missed the penalti over the bar and Mellberg got the penalty saved. Meanwhile, Cocu missed the penalty off the post and Ljungberg luckily hit his penalty after hitting the post and VanDerSar.

holland in the semis. And by penaltys it is a miracle. The last 4 big tournaments holland played beautiful soccer but never won it al and got defeated by penaltys. Now this year they play ugly soccer but win by penaltys, so i say we win it Alll:D
Robben is starting to become a superstar. I still cannot understand Advocaat, i think he is'nt a good coach. He made a few mistakes along the way. even if holland wins it all it is not because of advocaat.

Van der Meyde is a very bad soccer player, i never understoot why inter wanted him last year. but he shows now that he just isn't a good player. he cannot get by his defender. i want overmars to start in his place

yeah France should have used another formation and take advantage of the talent they have but the coach obousily thinked of something else. This was proberly the last time we saw zidane so cheers for him,he's a playing legend!

And I think Holland got very lucky against sweden. Penalties are like a lottery´.

i disagree. In the case of holland it is not a lotery. Some team are very bad in taking penaltys like holland and england. it is al about confidence. and having ice as blood

Also, Holland have been practicing penalties since the qualifiers, and have had the list of who takes the penalties prepared since the qualifiers.

It doesen´'t really mather if you practise penalties or not. Once youre there its a totally different thing. Thats why players who u think would make it sometimes misse it and thats why I think penalties are more luck then skill (Im talkiing about when games goes for penalties).
I think almost all of u agrees that it feels bether when youre team is winning by doing goals and win that way rather then your team is winning on penalties.

    Anyway thats just my opinion

I had Holland to win it all from the begining. It's going to be tough b/c they have to face Portugal and maybe the Czechs in the final. The Czecks have a Great team and play beautifully.

What a nervous one, that Holland - Sweden game. I was so scared that Holland was going to lose on PK's AGAIN even though we dominated most of the game. Swedes got unlucky as Holland did by hitting the post a couple times during the game. I hope Holland can finally win the BIG one!!!

I agree, the entire game I was wishing Advocaat would take him out. He seems very selfish and arrogant. Why isn't Zenden playing? The guy is a beast, he runs non-stop on the wing. I also feel bad for P. Kluivert, I criticized him alot b/c he misses lots of opportunities but the coach should let him have some PT side by side w/ V. Nistlerooy.

Also, Anyone else have the EURO '04 Package on cable??? The Czech game isn't coming on and I am so pissed cause Time warner is saying they have "engineers working on it", The most important games aren't showing.

The dutch didn't practice penaltys. and they did not know who would take them. Cocu didn't want to take the penalty but he felt it was his responsability as a captain to take it. Robben didn't know he was going to take the penalty. he knew he was goin to take it when the squad talked to each other about it after the first 5 penaltys. he just stepped up:D

Rivaldo2181 zenden isn't as fast as he used to be. i still like him as a player but i want overmars to play the right wing. he played it a couple of years ago when we had zenden on the left and Overmars on the right.
i think holland has a good chance. The czecks are also great. i think it will be one of those 2.
Just like 88 holland will beat the home team in the semi's and they beat the team ,that won of them in the group, in the final

Makaay is a better player then Kluivert, and van hooidonk is a better supersub. so imo kluivert is the fourth striker in the dutch team.
