Very excited to see the staff Udoka picks for his assistants. Assume John Lucas will deservedly be on it, but does anyone have any other information on who he’s looking to add or if the team will pick a few like they did with Silas?
Maybe he can bring in bud . Guy might wanna take a lesser role for a while and he can build up cred if the rockets get good again
Can we poach OKC's shooting coach Chip Engelland by offering him a better title & pay? Would love to get him working with Green, Jabari, Sengun, Tari, KJ Martin, etc.
One of Udoka's most loyal assistants Ben Sullivan is a shooting coach who worked under Chip Engelland in San Antonio. Also won a title under Budenholzer in Milwaukee. Udoka got him his first job with the Spurs. Pretty sure we'll be adding him. Would be a great compromise if Chip isn't moving.
I hope the Rockets do not make him keep anyone that is on the coaching staff that he does not want. They need to let him do whatever he wants to do with his assistant coaches. If he does not want Lucas then we can always find a role for the lifetime rocket other than coaching.
Like Abdelfattah, but know that if he stays on we may be playing Nix in rotation again. His G-League connection with him was strong.
Was means past tense. Nix should not even be an option after draft and free agency. Plus Abdelfatrah is not going to have that much control to determine rotations and player’s playing time.
James Borrego is a HUGE hire if we can get him. Having two prominent Spurs assistant coaches at the helm would be a serious game changer.
I'm not sure I've ever been as excited about seeing which assistant coaches we hire. I would definitely love to see a top notch shooting coach added to the roster. Borrego seems interesting as an offense guy too. And I am very interested in learning if Udoka sees value in keeping Lucas and Abdelfattah on.
