    well, blasting a band is never meant as a personal insult from me. Lawd knows I leave myself wide open to criticism when it comes to drug of choice.

    just reading over your last couple of posts, I have a feeling I'd be more partial to U2 if I had been born about 10 years earlier. I may have been just a tad too young to embrace their sound.

    Yeah, it's like me with some of the newer groups like the Foo Fighters, 3 Days Grace, Linkin Park, etc. Just can't get into them as much. And Coldplay, too. When it comes to music before my time (pre-1970), I really had to force myself to listen to some of that stuff, especially the 50s guys like Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley. Very good stuff, but so much simpler than what R&R evolved into. The other day, I bought this CD called King of the Delta Blues Singers from Robert Johnson (used to have the cassette- that dates me). Sucker was recorded in 1936!! It's a trip listening to that stuff- you can actually hear the rocking chair creak in the background (supposedly that's what he sat on when he recorded the songs). So I suppose it's like appreciating the simple and the complex stuff.

    Overrated, you can definitely make an argument for that.

    One of the greatest rock artists of all time, you can definitely make an argument for that, too, based on:

    Darkness on the Edge of Town
    The River
    Nebraska
    Tunnel of Love
    Greetings from Asbury Park
    Tom Joad
    Born in the USA

    Yep, I'll agree with that.
