She's a badass is what she is. She also happens to be openly gay. But, thankfully, tennis is about skill and not attractiveness or sexuality - unless you are an advertiser or aren't a real fan.

Mauresmo is a late-comer in women's tennis. She's been playing the best tennis in her career this year, winning 2 Grand Slam titles in Aussie and Wimby by beating a long time nemesis Henin. Again I am looking forward to their rematch in this US Open Final. I don't understand why so many are against her because of her openly lesbian stance. She may not be feminine enough in some men's taste, but I think she's not that bad looking.

Sharapova on the other hand may be pretty and sexy to many, but I can't stand to watch her play, which is boring and uninspiring like most girls' games out there. That's if I do bother to watch when the mute button is on. Anybody who doesn't cringe over her constantly loud, annoying, and hysterical grunting must be one of a kind him/herself.

I agree, Sharapova game is quite boring. My favorite women's player to watch is Henin-Hardenne. Her backhand alone makes the game interesting.

I really don't like Roddick. But I hate Hewitt even more, so I was happy that Roddick beat him. I was even thinking of softening my dislike of Roddick, until the post game interview.

The guy is a little b****. He was talking about how he had 6 months of not playing well, then when the announcer talks about the other announcers saying the old Roddick was back, he seemed offended, and started acting all snotty.

He represents the new bad Austin, as opposed to the Great Austin. Those stupid Andy's Mojo commercials still haunt me.

James Blake is my favorite and he played some nice tennis against Federrer last night. I don't know how Roger ever loses a game. He is a Tennis machine. I don't dislike him, but I don't root for him either unless he is playing against people I don't like.

I really can't stand Nadal either. He needs to cut his hair, and the guy seems like an airhead. I do like the style of his game, and his mobility, but he just seems vacant.

Mauresmo doesn't look that bad to me, except that her tattoo looks like a bruise. I don't really care one way or the other about her, but I like her more than Sharapova, and more than Golavin .

Pretty much agree with your assessment of all of them.

I really used to dislike Hewitt, until I realized how hard of a worker he is. At 5 foot 10, he has had to work extra hard on his serve in comparison to the 6 footers such as Federer, Roddick, and most other players. His game is somewhat similar's to Agassi, and I loved Agassi's style of play.

Hewitt is a hard worker, and really scrappy. But the fact that in the middle of a match he complained that Blake was getting all the calls because he was black, just really soured my opinion of him.

    What a loser.

Franchiseblade I agree with most of what you said.
I really dislike roddick, and nadal, and hewitt. I really dislike hewitt anoying "come on" .

I love to watch Federer play he is just amazing. I want him to be known as the best ever. And if he wants to achieve that he needs to win everything.(and luckily he is on the right track).

I think Federer really is the best ever. The only thing keeping him from having that title already is that he is still only 25 and hasn't been around as long.

That is hard to believe, because he carries himself very well, and seems very mature.

I don't dislike him at all, but it is hard for me to cheer enthusiastically for someone is always such a favorite. The guy is just so good it boggles the mind.

Federer brings some old school class back into the game. I enjoy how he wears a blazer on stadium court to all the majors.

exactly. federer is amazing. i was surprised to see him choking a bit last night. guess the crowd got into him a bit. as well as blake played federer shut him down convincingly after the first set, despite the choking.

I'm a big Sharapova fan and just love how she play with so much passion.

She going to need to play nearly perfect to beat Mauresmo who is at the top of her game. As much of a Sharapova fan as I am, I just don't see it happening tonite.

Finals will be a rematch between Mauresmo and Henin-Hardenne

Would love to see a Roddick Federer final in the Mens

Looks like it's gonna be a bagel in the 3rd set for Henin's opponent.

I think it's hard to proclaim anyone in tennis as the best ever, considering they'll never get a chance to compete against the best in past generations. But Federer does make it look easy.

Pretty convincing victory by Pova last night, congrats to her fans.

Anybody notice for a game or so at the very beginning of the match she didn't grunt one bit? But hell she was broken at once, and had to be the same old self to regain the feel of power and touch.

Every year on this day, CBS is unable to reconcile the scheduling conflict between NFL debut and US Open Men's Final. For the most part it was OK, only the pregame show was cut. One exeption is in 2000, by the time my local CBS affliate switched to tennis, the first set was almost done. Sampras en route lost to Safin in straight sets in that final. To this date I still blame the ominous karma of late coverage by CBS on Sampras' loss. Anyone who is a Sampras fan knows that loss started the longest winless stretch in Sampras amazing career.

Roddick has improved his game quite a bit since he sought the coaching advice from Jimbo. I've yet seen he is capable of doing serious damage to Federer's aura of invincibility. Look to a 3-1 scoreline, although 3-0 wouldn't be surprising.

I don't know if Federer has ever watched Tiger Woods play golf in person at a major, but Tiger is sure watching Federer right now in the court!

Let's go, ANDY! I know Federer is too much for him, but I am looking at him being better this year, so he should give Federer a good run for his money.

    ANNA KOURNIKOVA b****ES :D :D :D

    :(

How I miss those days. I remember being a 13 year old kid watching tennis, and just being infatuated with Anna.

I'm now 23  and i'm still infatuated with her. Now how I used to be with her when I was 16 or so, but still, man. She's the greatest thing in my life...which isn't saying much about my life.

I hate how people said she sucked. She wasn't that bad. She was a dominating player when she was a junior, she just didn't put it all together.

She is like a high drafted minor league player who never lived up to their potential. She didn't have the power game that eventually took over tennis. She was more finesse than anything.

I do like Mariah Sharapova though. She has game and all that stuff.

I like Women's tennis more than Men's tennis for some reason.

I wish there were more American Tennis players to root for. I'm not big on Andy Roddick myself.

I like James Blake, but I don't know if he has it yet. He had a very nasty injury and has done a damn good job of getting back to form.
