Hopefully my friends wont make fun of me for watching golf on t.v. anymore. I only watch golf if Tiger is playing.

BREAKING NEWS: Tiger will have season-ending ACL surgery, and played through the US Open (91 holes in 5 days) with that and a stress fracture.

It sucks that he won't be able to play for that long, but it has to make what happened this weekend one of the most remarkable athletic achievements in a long, long time. Just incredible.

So, with a torn ACL, that's a win at the PGA... second at the Masters... and first at the US Open. The last of which was played with a double stress fracture as well. Crazy.

tearing your acl really isn't major as long as you aren't doing things that require a ton of cutting and running and such. strengthening the leg is a normal way of rehab so you can avoid surgery. the main reason one would need surgery would be because you will do more damage to your knee in the long run if you don't have an acl. the amazing (and possibly very dumb if the injury doesn't heal correctly) thing is winning the us open with a stress fracture. it is just insane how good this guy is.

I just heard an interview on ESPN radio with Tiger's coach.

He said the doctor him not to play. Tiger said he was going to play the US Open and he was going to win.

He also said that when he was at Tiger's house before the Open, Tiger had a hard time walking from the couch to the kitchen and would bend over in pain.

It makes his achievement even more amazing...but as someone mentioned, if doing that screws up Tiger's legs and potentially his swing long-term, I will be very sad.
