Rocco's away, goes first, pulls his bunker shot way left, outside the cart path even. Tiger approach is on the front edge of the green.
I don't think so... first one to finish ahead on a hole wins... right? Rocco still alive.. needs this putt. Edit: Over. Tiger wins.
I would think after the surgery + layoff tiger's conditioning would be crap and that playing 90 million holes in 5 days wouldn't help him, but then again I would imagine that even an out-of-shape Tiger is probably in better shape than 99.9% of the PGA Tour/planet.
I think jack was saying how tiger shouldn't just come back with no warm up expecting to win, well tiger proved him wrong.
Amazing golf, but the drives on 18 and the sudden death hole just killed Rocco. Funny thing is he's know for his accuracy off the tee, but the pressure in that situation (especially for a guy who really hasn't been there) has got to be mind-blowing. Congrats to Tiger.
Wow. I wouldn't say Rocco choked -- he challenged and overcame Tiger on the back nine. And Tiger, when he had to, responded like he almost always does. People are going to point to Rocco's missed 15-20 foot putts, but that's not what defined this. Putts are so random, anyway. The defining moments were Tiger's drives on 18 and the sudden death hole. He's been driving it poorly all week and has struggled with the knee... and when he had to, he nailed it right down the middle of the fairway, twice. Incredible focus.
You know what? I'm not a golf fan at all, but that was an incredibly compelling day of golf. I was hanging on every stroke. Awesome playoff today.
The last time I checked Tiger was down with one hole left so I expected him to come up a little short. Check back on ESPN.com and he wins the thing. I knew I should not have doubted the legend.
Wow...I say part of it at lunch and Rocco was there...Choke? In sudden death, maybe...but he played great...Tiger is Tiger, bad knee and all...
