Lost in the shuffle is the main thrust of the article, which is that Bush has apparently decided that his election victory constitutes a huge mandate for not only him, but he specifically interprets it as a validation of Rumsfeld and his (monumentally awful) policies, and is prepared to cede even more responsibility to the man/men who are responsible for the biggest debacle in American foreign policy since Vietnam.
