Ottomaton, I am in total agreement with your perspective as posted in this thread.

The whole UN participation/funding issue has been with us for many years and is not new.

I still see this as a waste of money to the benefit of said "consultant." Only countries that have nothing to hide -- maybe some warts but they are self-exposed warts -- will invite this "consultant." Again, he won't find any embossed invitations from Myanmar, North Korea, Syria, Iran and other rogue nations.

"Full cooperation but no money" should be every nation's cry. This is money that can be better spent by feeding the hungry -- if any of that money could ever get through the corrupt U.N. food programs.

Absolutely agree...this issue has been with us for many years and is not new. However, we should quit wasting billions on the U.N. If anything, we should contribute as much money as the average country with our population. Let China and India contribute the bulk of the U.N.'s funds since they are the greatest people-makers in the world, or the OPEC nations since they are now the richest

It's just your opinion because people have been saying the same thing since before Wright became famous. Are you already forgetting the whole "madrassa" nonsense?

Or the gay senator flashing his business card to polices and saying, "what do you think of that?".

The "madrassa" nonsense was just that. It was so trivial that IMO it would not have hurt him in the long run. Wright, on the other hand, is and will continue to be a can of worms. Also, you are right, it is just (as I said) my opinion.

The UN as we have seen it benefited us. The problems that have surfaced reflects our waning power and the declining ability for our allies and associates to blindly nod to whatever we say.

I'm sure Germany, India and Japan would pay more per year if they nabbed a permanent Security Council seat. Can Brazil tag along? Argentina will want dibs too if Brazil is in.

Hmmmmm....do you think we could auction off our Security Council seat before we withdraw completely? We could set a minimum bid. Hmmmm.
