It seems as though every mock draft is allocating our 18th pick to either Duke's Tyus Jones or Notre Dame's Jerian Grant.

Although there are other options on the table, who would you take out of this pair?
The crafty, confident Jones or the physically superior Grant?

Personally, I want Tyus. His court-vision and ability to facilitate is far more advanced than Jerian's, and he is far less ball-dominant. Meaning, Jones is more likely to be happy for Harden to play with the ball in his hands, while still contributing to the team. In addition, Tyus compensates for his lack of physicality with impressive anticipation of passes in the lane, averaging just over 1.5 steals per game despite his smaller frame. That being said, he's only 19. I'm certain he has more weight to gain.

In contrast, the older, taller, stronger Jerian Grant will likely find the transition to the NBA less difficult. At 6'4", he physically looks very ready for the league. However, there have been questions of whether his spot-up shooting ability is good enough for the Rockets' offensive structure.

For me, I think Tyus would be a better fit for our team and will eventually become a more efficient contributor than Jerian would.
Let me know what you think.

For some reason Tyus Jones reminds me of Marcus Williams out of UCONN from a few years ago, and not in a good way. Big shot taker and maker in college, pure point guard, good passing, not an elite athlete, defensive liability concerns, lacks elite height. I dont think Grant is all that good either in the sense that he looks like an SG that's good enough in college to be the PG, but hes a guy with much better size and a jack of all trades but a master of none. Out of the 2 I guess I'd take Jones just because hes younger and a better deep shooter.

I'd take Jones. if you are going to pick a point guard who can't defend, then at least pick one who can spot up and hit a 3. He's just a better point guard too. Defensively he will have big issues but offensively he should be a legit point guard who can also play next to a star shooting guard and spot up.

It's always a crapshoot, but my guess is that Grant will be a bust.

Delon Wright scored 11 ppg on 28.6% shooting from the field in the tournament. This guy does not show up for the big game, so what makes him useful?

Tyus Jones scored 13 ppg on 42.4% shooting from the field in the tournament. He also had his best game against the toughest opponent: Wisconsin.

Jerian Grant scored 14.25 ppg on 41.3% shooting from the field in the tournament. He never once led his team in scoring during the tournament and folded a bit against Kentucky (granted they had an amazing defense).

I really think your greater-than symbols should be less-than symbols after doing my homework. But if it was my pick, I'd trade down a bit and go with Chamillionaire's guy: Tyler Harvey.

But is your homework a sampling of at most 6 games? Pretty small sample size.

Looking forward to how irrelevant this thread will be in two days. The Rockets aren't taking either of these guys.

Tyus Jones, if given the proper chance, he has the ability to be as good as Steve Nash ones was.
Also, Ty Lawson, please do not pick him up. He doesn't presented himself as someone that has a champion's mentality. no defense no ring.
