    Tyreke is a stat-sheet stuffer.
    And that's about it...
Team ball is not his forte.

Tyreke was badly coached from the word go. His rookie season they just gave him the ball and said, "do whatever". He played out of position and it showed this year. Dragic had the same problem before he was traded from PHX and look at him now? Tyreke hasn't regressed talent wise, as much as the team decided to play through Cousins.

Rockets fans SCREAMED all season long about not having a player attack the basket and here you have a player that does just that and does it well. What's the harm in putting him in a situation of need? We need a player with his skill.

He is not a player that can be built around.
He'd be a great sixth man, but he wants to be a superstar... minus the talent.

If he can turn full 180 and play within the team, then sure. But after three years of practically no coaching, I fear it'll take too long before he comes around if he ever does.

One more thing: with a 2012 pick you have 4 years at a cheap salary to figure out if a guy is worth keeping. With Evans you have to decide after just one year. Even if he pans out he will eat up a ton of cap room.

Evans attack the basket the way Brooks attack the basket. That is, he drives inside but can't draw a foul nor put up a high percentage shot. That's why he's a 45% shooter despite not having a 3-pt game.

Of course I want someone to attack the basket. But said player has to actually do it well, not suck at it.

So, now we are not happy if something pans out?

I mean wouldn't that be GREAT, if the guy pans out?

If the Rockets are truly still trying to WIN NOW, then they would do better with a 3rd year player who was the ROY and a number 5 overall pick than getting someone at 14 or 16 who the odds say will be a role player in a couple of years.

Lowry and Dragic have higher upside because they're already better. They have shown the ability to perform at near-all-star level. Even if that's their ceiling, I still believe that's higher than a guy that can't shoot and doesn't have passing acumen.

And Motiejunas/Morris have shown improvements from age 19 to 21/22. Evans has not. I will take the potential of a player that actually improves his game over someone who does not.

If Evans entered the draft this year, he'd neither be a top-5 pick nor would he win the ROY next season.

I'd absolutely LOVE for the rockets to get Tyreke Evans. You can slot him in at small forward and hide his weaknesses (poor 3pt shooting and court vision) next to Dragic/Lowry and Lee.

We could package one of our picks + Lowry for him, and if they didnt wan't Lowry im sure we could get portland or toronto involved with their high picks in a 3 way deal.

Evans is realistically a very difficult fit. His lack of a dependable ranged shot severely limits his effectiveness. If he could improve his spot up 3 point shooting to 36% it would be a different story. If he would take half of his ball possessions and make the pass it would be a different story. He creates space for his team mates and then jacks up bad shots. Can he ever be broken down by the coaching staff and rebuilt into an effective NBA player? Questionable. Until that happens he is just going to be jacking up shots on bad teams. It is sort of a waste.

If Tyreke stayed in college, he'd be a senior combo guard with broken shooting, high turnover rate and didn't show improvement in last few years. He would've had an inefficient 'good' sophomore year. He's got shot creation talent and size.

Now if you look at the above description, it's the kind of player teams bet in the second round with super cheap contracts.

You can pick a much younger Tony Wroten in late first round or early second round this year. He has very similar ability as Tyreke at 19 years old and will be on cheap contract. He'll have more upside than Tyreke as well.

I thought I'd never say this, but I'll take TWill instead. Pass on Evans.

Thanks for your opinion - I mean how can you argue with such succinct analysis as this...

    :)

Regardless, he is better than anyone the Rox can get in the draft at 14.

Kyrie Irving won ROY putting up 18 ppg, 5 apg and 3 rpg.

Tyreke Evans had 16 ppg, 4 apg, and 4 rpg

I think he would have a pretty decent shot at winning ROY if next season was his first year and he put up those kinds of stats.

There will be several players drafted at 14 or below who will be better this coming season than he is right now. And of course, there will be multiple players drafted at 14 or lower who will have better careers.

If Tyreke does not seriously adjust his game and improve, he could very well be out of the NBA in a year.

    No he wouldn't.

    FG% Irving 47% Evans 45%
    3pt FG% Irving 40% Evans 20%
FT% Irving 87% Evans 78%(Irving with very slight edge in terms of getting to the line, 4.5/36min vs 4.3/36min)

And if you want team stats, Irving is +4.3 on court/off court. Evans is -2.0

He thinks Evans could be in danger of being out of the NBA in a year while he has this to say about Marcus Morris.
